Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland - Barclays Premier League

According to reports from Mirror Football yesterday evening, Paris St. Germain are targeting a summer deal for Tottenham goakeeper Hugo Lloris.

The 28 year-old has only ever impressed since moving to White Hart Lane from Lyon in 2012, first becoming famed for his ‘sweeper-keeper’ style and more recently demonstrating his world-class shot-stopping abilities. Currently, he’s the only goalkeeper in the Premier League’s top seven to have made over 70 saves this season.

Reports from France earlier this week claimed Lloris’ contract included a £14.5million release clause that would be activated if the Lilywhites failed to qualify for the Champions League – a scenario that seems increasingly likely with a six-point gap between the north Londoners and the top four and just eight games remaining.

These were quickly revealed to be false, followed by reports that Tottenham are confident of holding onto the France No.1 this summer.

Keen for an upgrade on Salvatore Sirigu and well aware of Lloris’ ambitions to play in the Champions League, however, PSG are unlikely to be put off by the news and almost certain to test the club’s resolve this summer.
