In terms of trophies, Liverpool all the second-most successful club in the history of English football, after bitter rivals Manchester United.

But the Reds haven’t picked up a league title since the incarnation of the Premier League in 1992, it’s unprecedented TV revenues seemingly propelling other teams – and particularly the Red Devils – towards the summit of the English game.

Indeed, the Anfield outfit are now a very long way from their successes of the 1970s and 1980s, but could it have all been so different if the Reds had found a little more luck in the transfer market?

Plenty of world-class stars have passed through the legendary Anfield doors during the Premier League era – Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano to name just a few.

But there are many of equal or arguably superior talent Liverpool have missed out on. Just to prove it, we at This Is Futbol have listed FIVE.
