According to reports from Mirror Football this morning, the uncertainty over Sam Allardyce’s future at Upton Park could see West Ham target Fabian Schar join one of his rival suitors instead – with Arsenal and Tottenham known admirers.

The Switzerland international is widely regarded as one of the top defensive talents outside of Europe’s leading top flights, last term boasting an incredible 3.3 tackles, 4 interceptions and 6.7 clearances per match from his six Champions League outings.

He looks set to leave FC Basel on a free transfer this summer when his contract expires, although there is the option of a one-year extension based on specific clauses, and the Hammers are amongst the most interested parties.

But the East London club are still yet to decide the fate of manager Sam Allardyce, whose contract expires this summer, and are resultantly reluctant to commit to any transfers.

As a consequence, Mirror Football speculate the 23 year-old could join one of West Ham’s rivals instead, with Tottenham and Arsenal both listed as potential suitors by talkSPORT in March.

Mirror Football believe Spurs are particularly interested; Tottenham’s goals conceded record is the worst in the Premier League’s top half this season, 46 in 32 games, and they’ve only kept five clean sheets.
