According to reports from radio station talkSPORT yesterday afternoon, Real Madrid are plotting a summer swoop for Manchester City striker Sergio Agueo.
The Argentina international remains a crucial member of a Citizens side that have won two Premier League titles since 2010 – with him famously scoring the title-winning last-minute goal against QPR on the final day of the 2010/11 season.
In total, Aguero has scored 98 goals in 153 appearances for the Etihad outfit and as a consequence, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is prepared to splash out £70million to attain his services this summer.
Of course, Man City are hardly desperate finance, but This Is Futbol view this rumour as plausible for two reasons:
1. Although Aguero is a fantastic talent, injury problems are slowing down his career. Not only might that convince City it’s worth cashing in on a striker who’s usually absent for around one-third of every season, but the South American may also be keen to join a league with lesser physical strain, such as La Liga.
2. Aguero is now 26 years of age, and if he’s ever to represent another top European club – institutions like Bayern Munich, Barcelona or the Bernabeu outfit – the move will have to happen either this summer or the next.
At the moment however, the transfer story is still awash with speculative assumptions.
