According to reports from The Metro this morning, news of Jurgen Klopp’s resignation at Borussia Dortmund has rekindled Arsenal’s plans to launch a £40million bid for Manchester United target Marco Reus.

Both Premier League clubs were courting the German international in the first half of the season until he extended his Westfalen contract to summer 2019 in February – with United gaffer Louis van Gaal even attempting to phone him a few minutes before signing on the dotted line, as reported by Manchester Evening News.

They’d assumed Reus’ new deal meant he wouldn’t be on the market this summer, but Sky Sports claim Klopp’s resignation will trigger an exodus of the club’s top stars – including the 25  year-old.

Resultantly, Arsenal are reportedly preparing to restart their £40million pursuit of the winger-forward, who boasts 53 goals in 114 appearances for Dortmund.

With the Red Devils expected to spend around £150million again this summer, however – as reported by The Express – it’s unlikely they’ll let the north Londoners sign Reus uncontested.
