As This Is Futbol informed you last Monday, Arsenal have been courting the services of Velez Sarsfield youngster Maxi Romero, dubbed by some as ‘the next Lionel Messi’.

And according to last week’s reports, the Gunners had a £4.5million bid accepted for the 16 year-old forward, despite him still waiting on his senior debut for Velez Sarsfield, as confirmed by club president Raul Gamez.

As is often the case in South America, however, third-party ownerships have delayed Arsenal’s deal for the young starlet, who is allegedly famed for his close control and composure in front of goal – as reported by Mirror Football yesterday evening.

But the issues are now believed to have been resolved, according to the British tabloid.

Romero will stay with the Argentine side for the next two seasons to continue his development before making the move to north London in 2017.

He still has a long way to go before he matches the quality of the four-time Ballon d’Or winner, however.
