According to reports from BBC Sport yesterday afternoon, Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has valued talismanic winger Yannick Bolasie at a whopping £20million to nullify interest from potential suitors.
Following his hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Sunderland last weekend, Liverpool were linked with a £10million bid for the DR Congo international by The Telegraph yesterday morning.
But in response to the recent speculation, Pardew has claimed the 25 year-old is worth double that mooted sum, having staged a claim for a slot in this season’s PFA Team of the Year with four goals and six assists in 28 Premier League appearances for the Eagles – whilst averaging an impressive 2 shots, 1.4 created chances, 2.6 successful dribbles and 0.9 accurate crosses per match.
Talking in his pre-match press conference ahead of today’s Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion, the former West Ham and Newcastle manager told reporters; “£10m price on Bolasie. Blimey. It needs to be more than double that to get near him. We are in a great financial position. I am not getting carried away with where we are but we are doing very well in the Premier League.”
Bolasie, originally a product of Rushden and Diamonds’ academy, has made 100 league appearances for Palace since moving to Selhurst Park in summer 2012, helping them achieve promotion from the Championships via the play-offs during his inaugural season.
