According to reports from The Express yesterday evening, Espanyol centre-back Hector Moreno has informed his agent that he wants a move to Arsenal this summer.
As This Is Futbol informed you earlier this month, the 6 foot centre-back has been on the radars of Europe’s top clubs since his impressive performances for Mexico at the 2010 World Cup, helping his country reach the first knock-out round.
He’s since affirmed himself as one of the most consistent defenders in La Liga – last term averaging 1.1 tackles, 1.7 interceptions, 2.1 successful aerial duels and 5.3 clearances per match whilst committing just one defensive error during his 32 league appearances – which has generated interest from Arsenal, Spurs and Serie A champions Juventus.
In fact, former Periquitos boss Mauricio Pochettino wanted a White Hart Lane reunion with Moreno last summer, according to The Express, but a World Cup-ending knee injury prevented any move.
Which is good news for Moreno, because it appears he’s now considerably more interested in signing for Arsenal – presumably due to their Champions League status.
Despite widespread interest in his services, the papers believe he could be available for just £5million this summer – as claimed by The Metro earlier this month.
