DybalaLouis Van Gaal has struggled to establish who his best striker is this season. He’s given Radamel Falcao a fair amount of game time, but the Colombian hitman has really struggled to make the grade. He doesn’t use his physicality as well as he should, he’s slow and cumbersome and his finishing has been lackluster.

Robin Van Persie’s injury problems haven’t helped, but it’s hard to understand why Van Gaal has continued to play Wayne Rooney as a midfielder. It’s clear that he’s currently the best striker that Manchester United have. The further back you play him, the less effective he is.

Still, he’s not getting any younger. With Manchester United’s other options disappointing, it wouldn’t surprise me if Van Gaal took to the summer transfer window to find a new striker.

It already looks like they’re making inroads. According to The Metro, Manchester United have made a £28.5m bid for Palermo’s star striker, Paulo Dybala. The Argentine ace is just 21-years-old, but he’s already been compared to Sergio Aguero. He’s quick, he’s technically gifted and he’s no slouch in front of goal.

The aforementioned source carries quotes from Palermo’s president, Maurizio Zamparini, who fails to deny that Manchester United are interested: ‘I already have a bid of £28.5 million. Is it Manchester United that brought this figure? I will not say, even under torture, which club has submitted the offer.’

On the face of it, that quote isn’t particularly revealing. Still, the fact that Manchester United’s name came up and no denial was issued, is interesting. Unfortunately, the reporter didn’t bother to torture Zamparini, so we won’t know for sure until the summer.

Still, it’s hard not to get excited about the prospect of Dybala ending up at Old Trafford. The Red Devils need a little more youth in this area of the pitch. The Argentine may well have the wit and verve necessary to propel Manchester United back to greatness.

What’s your take? Do Manchester United have enough strikers? Is Paulo Dybala a good option for them?
