DybalaArsenal have been inconsistent this season, but that’s not due to a lack of quality in their squad. Instead, I’d argue that most of the poor results this season have been a result of either bad tactics or an injury onslaught.

As things currently stand, The Gunners have a well rounded team. They’ve got a versatile, youngish defense that should have plenty of longevity. They’re well stocked for talent in the midfield (they’ve even managed to find a decent defensive midfielder in the shape of Francis Coquelin). They’ve also got lots of options upfront, but this is the one area that Arsene Wenger might want to look at in the summer.

I’m not convinced that either Olivier Giroud or Danny Welbeck is a world class goal scorer. Giroud might get you 20 goals a season and Welbeck might get you 15 (if you’re lucky), but they don’t have the quality, or the fear factor of forwards like Diego Costa, Karim Benzema or Edinson Cavani.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Arsenal are already working on securing a new striker this summer. The man in question is Palermo’s star centre-forward, Paulo Dybala, who The Gunners are reportedly looking to sign ‘as soon as possible’.

If Arsenal are being hasty, it’s with good reason. Dybala is widely considered to be one of the best young talents in world football. He’s only 21-years-old, but he’s still managed to score 12 goals in 24 games this season. Some have even compared him to Sergio Aguero, Manchester City’s super striker.

Both footballers are pacey, technically gifted and they score goals. The comparison is fairly well earned.

According to the aforementioned source, £21.3m would be enough to get this deal closed. That’s a lot of money for a young footballer, but it could prove to be money well spent.

What’s your take? Should The Gunners look to finally close a deal for Paulo Dybala? Should they be hunting more experienced options?
