Ezequiel Garay (Argetina)If there’s a transfer window on the way (albeit in the distant future), then there’s a good chance that Manchester United will be picking up links to Zenit St. Petersburg centre-back, Ezequiel Garay. The Red Devils just can’t seem to help themselves. This duo have been fluttering their eyelids at each other for a good 18 months now. When is Louis Van Gaal going to seal the deal?

One thing’s for sure: Manchester United still need to sign a top quality centre-back. There’s weaknesses throughout this squad, but I’m still convinced that this has to be Louis Van Gaal’s main focus during the summer. After all, he failed to bring adequate replacements for Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand last time round.

These were two of The Red Devils most experienced and talented players. Their absence was always going to have a major affect on the team’s balance. Let’s hope that Van Gaal’s ready to act when he gets the chance.

This brings me back to Ezequiel Garay. More precisely, it brings me to a recent article published by The Metro, that claims that Manchester United ‘expect’ to seal an £18.5m deal for the Argentine this summer.

Garay is rumoured to have grown frustrated with Russian football and he’s disappointed with the lack of development in his game. To get better, he’ll need to play against the world’s best strikers on a regular basis. Manchester United can provide him with this opportunity.

The Premier League would offer a major step up in quality for Ezequiel Garay. Luckily, he looks equipped to deal with the change and excel in a new League. He’s physically tough, he’s good in the air and he’s pretty nippy. He reminds me a little of Laurent Koscielny, with his small, well orchestrated bursts of aggression.

That £18.5m price-tag is starting to look like a good deal.

What’s your take? Is Ezequiel Garay still the right man for Manchester United?
