Paul Pogba 1A few years back, Manchester United decided to let go of one of the biggest stars of the future, Paul Pogba. The Frenchman was a troublemaker during his stay at Old Trafford, but it was also obvious that there was something special about him.

His grace on the ball was there for everyone to see. From a young age, he’s had a remarkable ability for winning time and space on the ball and putting it into dangerous areas. As he’s grown older (he’s now 21-years-old), he’s learned to do more: he’s now capable of beating his man, dribbling past defenders and finding the back of the net.

Technically speaking there are few players out there who can match him, regardless of their age. So let me re-iterate: this is a player that Manchester United let go. Given that The Metro claim that he’s now worth £80m, I’d argue that this was a huge (if somewhat understandable) blunder. It must be one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s biggest regrets.

Indeed, ever since The Red Devils let him go, he’s been linked with a potential move back to the club. He’s currently at Juventus where he’s doing extremely well, but I’d argue that he’s destined for bigger things. His agent, Mino Raiola, certainly seems to think so. Look how purple he gets with these comments:

‘If there is one Mona Lisa in the world, and she is for sale, it will be a record price. He (Pogba) wants to make his mark on football history and he is already doing that.’

He’s the Mona Lisa of football because of his coy, enigmatic half-smile, right? Raiola continues:

‘Not a single player at the age of 21 has shown the world what he can do; lead a team in the palm of his hans. Pogba, he has done it already. His future? He could join any team. If the right time comes this summer, then it will happen. If it is not the right time, he could stay for another year or two. He will beat the transfer record.’

He’s not mincing his words is he? At the very least, his comments demonstrate that Paul Pogba would be willing to leave his current digs. Whether he’d want to return to Old Trafford is another matter. I can’t help but wonder if Louis Van Gaal will be tempted into making a move.

What’s your take? Will we ever see Paul Pogba in a Manchester United shirt again?
