Would this £125k-a-week man be a good replacement for Simon Mignolet?

NetoIf Liverpool fans were uncertain about Simon Mignolet before the start of this season, they should have achieved some clarity by this stage: the big Belgian just isn’t up to it. He’s not good enough to be The Reds’ man between the sticks.

Last season Liverpool conceded 50 Premier League goals. I’m sure Brendan Rodgers would have wanted to improve in this area this year. Unfortunately, that looks impossible given Mignolet’s current form.

I don’t doubt that he’s a good player. We all saw during his time at Sunderland that he was capable of some banner performances (he even had some good games in a Liverpool shirt last year), but he’s really hit a rough patch now. He’s nervous, jumpy and he’s got a run-rate of about one mistake per game at the moment.

Something has to give. It must be difficult for The Reds’ back four to do their own job under these circumstances.

This leads me rather nicely onto The Metro‘s claim that Brendan Rodgers is ‘closing in’ on Fiorentina goalkeeper, Neto. If this is true, then perhaps fans can start to breathe a sigh of relief.

The Brazilian ace’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he’s already rejected his current paymaster’s offer of a new long-term deal. This could see The Reds sign him for free next summer or as part of a cut price January deal. Either way, Brendan Rodgers comes out on top.

The source claims that Liverpool are willing to offer the player as much as £125k-a-week in order to push the deal through. The 25-year-old is known for his athletic displays, the speed he gets across his goal-line and his lightning quick reactions. He’s a good shot-stopper and he doesn’t make too many mistakes.

I’m sure he’d make for an improvement over Simon Mignolet. With that in mind, perhaps it’s time for Brendan Rodgers to make his move. I’m not sure Liverpool can afford to wait until the summer.

What’s your take? Is Brendan Rodgers right to bring in a replacement for Simon Mignolet? Would Neto be a good option?

He is not a 125000 a week guy, the media made that figure up, he is not getting anywhere near that now he is around a quarter of that so he could be worth a 35000 a week you would’nt know, because your idea of research is to quote unreliable media sources.
