Have Liverpool already agreed a deal for this £3m La Liga bargain?

OchoaLiverpool’s decision to drop their hapless goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet, was met with general contentment among Liverpool fans, but it didn’t lead to the results that they may have hoped. Brad Jones slotted in against Manchester United, but he ended up conceding three goals (including a curious one, where he seemed to dive the wrong way when attempting to save Wayne Rooney’s shot).

On the face of things, it doesn’t look like either Jones or Mignolet is the answer for The Reds, not in the long-term any way. It’s unfortunate that the Belgian keeper has failed to make the mark at Anfield (especially given his exploits whilst he was at Sunderland), but it’s clear that he’s not the right man for the job. If Brendan Rodgers wants to find a meaningful fix for this particular issue, he may well have to take to the transfer window.

With January fast approaching, The Reds will have an opportunity to bolster their squad. Here’s hoping that Rodgers opts to bring in a new keeper and a striker.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Liverpool have already agreed a £3m deal for Malaga’s talented keeper, Guillermo Ochoa.

Ochoa (who has a great name) has a wealth of experience to his name. He’s 29-years-old now and he’s made 211 appearances for ‘America’ (a Mexican club). He’s also got 66 caps for the Mexican international team, so he’s clearly a good option.

He moved to Malaga in the summer, but he’s struggled to make an impact at his new club. This has led to claims that he could move on next month. This must also explain why he could be available for as little as £3m.

The aforementioned source claims that The Reds were interested in Ochoa during the summer but a move never came to fruition. Perhaps Brendan Rodgers will be able to seal the deal this time around?

What’s your take? Do Liverpool need to sign a new keeper? Would Guillermo Ochoa be a good option?
