Marcelo BrozovicRegardless of the state of his defense, Arsene Wenger can’t seem to help himself when it comes to exciting attacking minded players. The Professor has always been more interested in his forward line-up and as a result, his back-four often gets neglected. How else can you explain his activity throughout the summer transfer window?

Are things going to be any different this January? He needs to fix his defense, but will this stop him from signing new attacking-minded talent? I wouldn’t bet against it.

Right on cue, The Metro have published an article that suggests that The Gunners have been handed permission to speak to Dinamo Zagreb star, Marcelo Brozovic. The source suggests that an official offer has been made for the Croatian ace and that Arsenal are now working on a agreeing personal terms. Things seem to be moving pretty quickly with this one.

Brozovic is just 22-years-old, but he’s already started to pick up comparisons to players like Xavi (thanks to his impressive range of passes) and Luka Modric (probably due to their shared nationality).

He’s extremely comfortable on the ball, he’s always capable of buying himself time and space and he’s able to pick out the kinds of passes that change games. He’s still developing, but if he continues to improve at his current rate, he’s going to blossom into a world class star.

Arsenal are right to try and get in at the bottom floor. Marcelo Brozovic’s price-tag is likely to rise over the coming months. The sooner they can sign him, the cheaper he’ll be.

Whether he’s ready to make an instant impact in the Premier League remains to be seen, but he’s certainly one for the future. If Arsene Wenger can pull off a decent deal for Marcelo Brozovic, then this could prove to be a very good piece of business indeed.

What’s your take? Do Arsenal need another attacking midfielder in their squad? Is Marcelo Brozovic the right man for the job?
