Have Manchester United already agreed this £32m deal?

Kavin Strootman (Holland)Manchester United have been linked with a move for Roma’s Kevin Strootman for quite some time now. Given the state of The Red Devil’s midfield, I can’t help but feel that they need him more than ever.

Whilst Louis Van Gaal’s boys have been getting some wins on the board in recent times, they still look a little under-strength. This is particularly true in the centre-of-the-park, where they seem to lack the competitive edge that was typical of Sir Alex Ferguson sides.

In that sense, Kevin Strootman would be a perfect fit. He’s physically strong, he works extremely hard, he wins a lot of tackles and he breaks up play whenever necessary. What’s most impressive about the Dutchman, however, is the fact that he’s able to quickly turn defense into attack. He’s good on the ball, he’s capable of picking out a killer pass and he’s pretty effective in the final third.

It’s easy to see him making an impact at Old Trafford, if The Red Devils can afford to make this deal happen. As it happens, it does look like this piece of business will go ahead. Check out these comments from the player’s agent, Matteo Materazzi:

‘Manchester are one step away from Kevin Strootman,’ Materazzi told Rai Sport. The British club will pay €40m (£32million) into the coffers of the Giallorossi.’ (Source: The Metro)

It looks like everything is more or less sorted. Strootman has had his injury problems in recent times, but he’s now fit and ready for action. It’s going to be exciting to see him in a Manchester United shirt. £32m looks like a fair price for that privilege. I can’t wait to see confirmation that he’s signed on the dotted line.

What’s your take? Could The Red Devils finally wrap up a deal for this Roma midfield maestro? Is Kevin Strootman worthy of his £32m price-tag?
