GiovincoArsenal’s recent Champions League outing against Anderlecht will have done little to convince fans that they’ve fixed their defensive issues. As a unit, The Gunners just aren’t gelling at the moment and their defense is seriously under-cooked.

What’s most disappointing, however, is the way that Arsenal are struggling to put attacks together. Considering the number of smart, offensive players they have on their books, it’s a little difficult to understand. For one reason or another, however, there are too many passes going astray and Arsenal just aren’t effective enough in the final third.

Unfortunately, Arsene Wenger’s options are limited until the January transfer window. He’s going to have to make do with what he’s got for now and look to bring some fresh legs in when he can.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Arsenal are considering making a move for Juventus’s talented forward/winger, Sebastian Giovinco. Will this news have Arsenal fans jumping in the aisle?

One thing’s for sure: Giovinco’s credentials are good. The 27-year-old is nippy, he’s good on the ball and he’s always looking to get in behind. Once he finds himself in a dangerous area he’s usually smart enough to effect the game in some meaningful way. He’s also earned 20 caps for the Italian international team, so it’s clear that he’s a decent footballer.

His agent, Andrea D’Amico certainly rates him highly. Check out these comments: “Either there is a viable plan for him, or he can leave. Giovinco grew up with Juventus, then went out [to Empoli and Parma] and proved his worth. Who would be interested [if her were to leave]? It’s obvious, everyone would be.”

As those comments suggest, Giovinco is growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of game-time (he’s made just 3 appearances this season). I wouldn’t be surprised if he is indeed looking out for an exit route. Whether Juventus would be prepared to sell is another matter.

One thing’s for sure: Arsenal have the cash to make a deal happen. It all depends on exactly how interested Arsene Wenger is.

What’s your take? Should The Gunners really be interested in Sebastian Giovinco?
