CuadradoThere’s every reason to believe that Louis Van Gaal will put Manchester United back on the path to glory. He’s clearly a smart cookie and a very talented manager. Still, you can’t help but feel that he needs a few reinforcements if he’s to seriously improve on last season’s offering.

Whilst a good manager can help squeeze a few additional points out of an average team over the course of a season, Van Gaal will need to make some tweaks to his team if he’s to take them a step further and lead them to Premier League glory.

In particular, I can’t help but feel that Manchester United need to refresh their attack. With players like Wayne Rooney, Nani, Antonio Valencia, Shinji Kagawa and Ashley Young all offering diminishing returns, this is clearly an area of the squad that needs some attention.

This brings me to Manchester United’s rumoured interest in Fiorentina’s wing-wizard, Juan Cuadrado.

The Colombian ace was in fine form during this year’s World Cup, scoring 1 goal and making 4 assists. Playing alongside James Rodriguez probably helped, but it’s clear that Cuadrado is very talented indeed.

Last season he made 43 appearances for Fiorentina and found the back of the net 15 times – he’s clearly not a one-off wonder. At 26-years-old he has a good deal of experience behind him and looks set for a move to a big club. Can Manchester United make it happen?

According to The Metro, Cuadrado will soon be ‘subject’ to a £30m Manchester United bid. The source also notes that Fiorentina are willing to do business if somebody comes in with a decent sum of cash. At this stage, this looks like Manchester United’s deal to lose.

Cuadrado is certainly good enough to displace any of previously listed players (the sooner Nani and Ashley Young disappear from the first team, the better!). He’s the kind of player who could revolutionise United’s forward line-up, whilst leading them onwards to bigger and better things. Let’s just hope that Louis Van Gaal is ready to swoop in.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United be interested in Juan Cuadrado?
