The Reds are in the middle of rebuilding, following a summer where they’ve lost their best player. Luis Suarez, the talented Uruguayan forward won’t prove easy to replace. He’s one of the world’s best footballers, he’s a fantastic source of goals and he’s a constant threat.
Whilst Daniel Sturridge is likely to step up to the mark this coming season, Brendan Rodgers would probably benefit from having a few more attacking options to pick from. The more the merrier, I’d argue.
This brings me to Liverpool’s interest in Paris Saint Germain forward, Ezequiel Lavezzi. Could The Argentine ace prove to be the perfect fit for The Reds?
With The Metro reporting that Liverpool have already lodged a £17.9m bid for Lavezzi, perhaps a deal isn’t too far away. The source claims that PSG are trying to raise enough cash to fund a massive bid for Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria and may thus be willing to sell some of their current options.
If Lavezzi is up for joining a new club and embarking on a new challenge, then a move to Liverpool could well be on the cards. The Reds look fairly well placed here.
The 29-year-old certainly looks like an excellent option. He’s fairly versatile, capable of being deployed down the centre or out on the wings. He’s also quick along the turf, he’s an excellent dribbler and he works really hard.
Thanks to his athleticism, energy and verve, he often manages to make an impact on games. In two seasons at PSG he has scored 23 goals and made 18 assists. I’m sure Liverpool would benefit from having such an effective force deployed down their flanks.
A player like Lavezzi won’t replace Luis Suarez. I’m not sure any body could. But he will help to keep The Reds competitive and help them to compete for silverware next season. That sounds like a good investment to me.
Let’s just hope that the player is up for the move.
