Could Liverpool be about to wrap up this £18.4m deal?

|

Ezequiel Lavezzi (Argentina):Brendan Rodgers has really had to earn his pay this summer, hasn’t he? The Reds have been busy throughout the summer transfer window, selling their best player (Luis Suarez) for a decent fee and bringing in a raft of new options.

Whether all this work will result in Premier League success remains to be seen. The teams around Liverpool (the Chelseas, Manchester Citys, Arsenals and Manchester Uniteds of this world) are all strengthening too. Rodgers certainly won’t be able to rest of his laurels next season. He’s going to need to work just as hard as he has done this summer.

But fans will be hoping that Liverpool’s spending isn’t quite over yet. The Reds could still use a couple of defensive options and another gifted forward. If Brendan can bring these recruits in, The Reds should be pretty well set for the coming action.

This brings me to Liverpool’s rumoured interest in Paris Saint Germain forward, Ezequiel Lavezzi. The Mirror recently ran an article suggesting that The Reds are ‘ready to table’ an £18.4m bid for the Argentine ace. Things seem to be moving pretty quickly, huh?

The source notes that other clubs are interested (Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus), but it’s Liverpool who look to be leading the charge.

What’s more, PSG are in the running to sign Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria, which could push Lavezzi out of first team contention. As a result, the player could be ready for a change of scenery and the club could be willing to sell in order to comply with Financial Fair Play rules. That would be a win-win for Liverpool.

Ezequiel Lavezzi certainly looks like a player who’s capable of leaving his mark in the Premier League. Over two season’s worth of action for PSG, he’s scored 23 goals and made 18 assists. If he were to bring this kind of form to Liverpool, he’d surely be an unqualified success at his new club.

What’s your take? What does the future hold for Ezequiel Lavezzi? Should The Reds be interested?

You have not mentioned anywhere in your article that this guy is an old age pensioner . Lazy journalism . Try darts or snooker instead .

You where spreading this crazy rumour yesterday, and as I posted FSG and John Henry would not sanction that kind of money for a 29 year old player, he wants younger players not (in the football world) pensioners.

I would say this is a case of plagiarism if it not for the fact the author is Harry Cloke and he is well known for starting stupid rumours in his own right. I wish he would get a proper job because all his rumours are copied by all the other idiots on the web.
