Manchester United have made in roads already in this summer’s transfer market, but there’s still plenty of work to get done. Louis Van Gaal is likely to be a very busy man over the coming months.
There’s still a number of clear weaknesses within this Manchester United squad that need to be assessed and dealt with. Louis Van Gaal’s work in this regard could come to make or break his time as Manchester United boss.
One of his key priorities will be sorting out his defense. The club has already brought in Luke Shaw, but again, there’s more work to be done in this particularly area of the squad.
He’ll need to bring in a couple of centre-backs and he’ll probably also need to sign a new right-back. This is where we’re going to focus for the remainder of this article.
This brings me to Daryl Janmaat a young professional Dutch footballer who operates as a right-back for Feyenoord. Would this 24-year-old star be a good fit for The Red Devils?
According to The Mirror, Manchester United are already in touch with Janmaat’s club and are trying to hash out a deal. The source suggests that United have offered Feyenoord £4m and that the Dutch side are holding out for at least £7m.
In other words, if The Red Devils are willing to up their bid by £3m, they could get their hands on a player who’s reputation continues to grow. In fact, on the face of things, £7m for Daryl Janmaat strikes me as something of a bargain.
Janmaat’s an effective defender, but he really excels when carrying the ball forward. He’s not afraid to get his head down, takes players on and cut into the area (or deliver a cross). He’s still developing, but it’s clear there’s plenty of talent there.
So here’s hoping that Louis Van Gaal opts to snap him up, so that he can focus on improving other areas of the squad throughout the remainder of the summer.
