Juan CuadradoOne of Manchester United’s key transfer priorities this summer will be bringing in a tricky winger who can add a bit of flair down the flanks.

After all, last season The Red Devils were largely disappointing in this department. Looking at the likes of Nani, Shinji Kagawa and Antonio Valencia, it’s not clear that Louis Van Gaal has the personnel he needs to turn things around.

That’s why he’ll need to take to the transfer market to rectify the situation.

This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that Manchester United are in the market for Fiorentina’s big money winger, Juan Cuadrado. The source suggests that the World Cup star could cost as must as £32m.

That’s an absolutely colossal fee, but his form in recent times almost justifies it. He made 4 assists and scored 1 goal at this year’s World Cup. The wily winger was also impressive at club level, scoring 15 goals and making 11 assists in 43 games. That’s an excellent return for somebody not playing down the centre.

Given that he’s only 26-years-old, it’s easy to see why Manchester United are interested. He’s an extremely exciting footballer to watch. He’s pacy, he’s got access to a bag of tricks and he’s not afraid to take defenders on. Because he’s so direct, he tends to make things happen in the final third.

He’d make a significant improvement over the likes of Nani and Shinji Kagawa. He may even be good enough to send The Red Devils hurtling back up the Premier League table.

I’m not sure that he’s worth £32m, but given that Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also thought to be interested, Manchester United will have to act quickly. If they dilly-dally, another club could swoop in and take him off the market.

There’s very few wingers out there on Cuadrado’s level. If Louis Van Gaal wants to show his ambition, signing this Colombian could be a step in the right direction. Now that Colombia have crashed out of the World Cup, it’s time to swoop in.

What’s your take? Would Juan Cuadrado make for a good addition at Old Trafford?
