I wonder if Louis Van Gaal realises just how easy he has things with the Dutch international side. He’s got a team full of talented, motivated players who are ready and willing to go the distance. He’s able to call upon some of world football’s most gifted attackers. Then there’s Arjen Robben, who has arguably been the World Cup’s MVP thus far.
Things will be different when he rocks up at Old Trafford when the World Cup draws to a close. He’ll need to marshall a group of players who have lost their way. He’ll need to fix his club’s defense, whilst making them a more effective attacking unit. He’ll need to institute massive levels of change in a short period of time.
In other words, he’s going to have to work hard for his pay-cheque.
Still, I can’t help but feel that he’s the right man for the job at Manchester United. He’s played a massive role in making the Dutch team so darn effective after all.
If he is going to succeed, however, he’ll need to make the right decisions in the summer transfer market.
This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that Van Gaal is interested in signing Roma’s Dutch midfielder, Kevin Strootman. There’s the Dutch connection again. Strootman has also been labelled ‘The Dutch Roy Keane’ on a number of occasions, so this link seems to make a lot of sense.
By bringing in a midfield enforcer type, The Red Devils can free up more time and space for the likes of Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj. What’s more, Kevin Strootman is more than capable of contributing further up the pitch. Last season the Dutchman made 29 appearances for Roma, scoring 6 goals and making 7 assists.
He’s clearly very important to the Serie A side. That’s why the aforementioned source suggests that he could cost The Red Devils as much as £30m. He won’t come cheap, but quality rarely ever does.
Still, if Louis Van Gaal does want to get off to a flying start, picking Strootman could be a smart choice.

Strootman will be the perfect buy, but, he is currently injured and cannot be bought until January…so Van Gaal will have to work wonders before January. Also, in my opinion we need to buy Lucas Moura at any cost…he is very good and he can be the new Ronaldo. Also, a defender in the mould of hummels or Miranda is perfect to finsh the work on Man Utd
He won’t be 30 million either
