BonyAll the attention seems to be on Luis Suarez this summer (he does tend to hog the limelight, one way or another), but Liverpool have been making efforts to add other options to their forward lines.

They’ve already agreed a deal for Southampton striker Rickie Lambert. The English centre-forward has plenty of experience, is great in the air and will provide Brendan Rodger’s with a great option.

According to The Mirror, The Reds are chasing yet another centre-forward option. The source claims that Liverpool (and Arsenal) are keeping tabs on Swansea City’s talented striker, Wilfried Bony. FTB Pro suggests that it’ll cost The Reds £19m to close the deal.

This news follows Bony’s agent’s claims that the Ivory Coast international is keen on playing for a top six club. With this in mind, there’s every reason to believe that he could be tempted to move to Anfield this summer.

Given the options that The Reds already have in this area of the pitch, it’s difficult to see why Brendan Rodgers is pursuing yet another striker. Shouldn’t he be spending time pursuing centre-backs and talented midfielders?

Probably. But it’s hard to deny that Wilfried Bony would be a good addition for Liverpool. The main is a natural goal-scorer. Whilst at Vitesse he scored 53 goals in 73 games. During his first season with The Swans, he managed to find the back of the net 25 times. Imagine what he’s going to be capable of next year?

Liverpool’s interest in players like Wilfried Bony will raise question marks over the future of Luis Suarez. The troublesome Uruguayan has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons as of late. I’m not sure that anybody really knows what the future holds for him.

If Liverpool were to swap Luis Suarez for Wilfried Bony, I’m sure that fans would be disappointed. But it would leave The Reds with enough money left over to sign a couple of classy defenders and a top midfielder. All in all, maybe it’s the right step forward for the club?

Let’s see if Brendan Rodgers is prepared to take it.

What’s your take? What does the future hold for Luis Suarez? Is Wilfried Bony a good option for The Reds?
