Karim BenzemaLuis Suarez may have recently moved to dismiss any rumours linking him with a move away from Liverpool this summer, but after a season where he has scored an astonishing 31 goals in 37 games, he’s sure to attract a fair amount of attention. If a big money offer comes in, will Brendan Rodgers really be in a position to turn it down?

If The Mirror are to be believed, Real Madrid are weighing up a £70m move for the Uruguayan ace. Whether this will be enough to tempt The Reds into selling remains to be seen, but it’s certainly enough to give the club pause for thought.

Real Madrid signing Luis Suarez would have a couple of big side-effects: they’d be a striker up and £70m down. Perhaps they’ll look to steady the ship by selling one of their current options?

Could they consider selling Karim Benzema, a player who has received mixed reviews this season? Whilst he’s been in fine fettle in front of goal, he’s also been largely inconsistent. In fact, Real fans have started to get on his back due to his lack of impact in big games. This being the case, perhaps Carlo Ancelotti will be willing to consider letting him go?

ESPN claim that Arsenal are interested and that he could cost as much as £30m. That’s a lot of money, but he has a lot of experience and there’s no doubting his finishing ability. In 233 games for Madrid, he’s found the back of the net 111 times, whilst chipping in with a decent number of assists. This season he’s scored 24 goals and racked up 14 assists. Those are figures becoming of a £30m rated striker.

I would say that at 26-years-old, Benzema is really starting to come into his own, but the truth is that he’s been a regular performer for the last four seasons. He’d be the perfect tonic to the slow and sluggish Olivier Giroud and may even be what The Gunners need to guide them onward to success.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal be in the market for Karim Benzema? Are there other options they should be considering?
