Roy HodgsonSummer is quickly approaching and the days we have all been waiting are nearly here. The days of long sunlight means more time to spend outdoors running, playing football, or just lounging and enjoying each other’s company. Summer means 12 hours and 45 minutes of sunlight, which can be better spent outdoors enjoying the fresh air.

With World Cup matches to be played later in the evening UK time as the tournament kicks off in Brazil this is sure to bring added drama and entertainment. The world’s biggest stars will enter battle under the lights this summer and fans will relish the chance to enjoy late night football while out on the town.

England’s matches in particular kick off at 11 pm, 8 pm, and 5 pm. England was handed a tough opening to their World Cup campaign against Italy at 11 pm on June 14. Five days later on the 19th they take on Uruguay at 8 pm. Their final group stage match is a bit earlier, against Costa Rica on June 24th at 5 pm. These match times are sure to come as good news for the working population, as employees will surely head to the pub after work to unwind and catch the match.

For those fans lucky enough to be in Brazil, the matches will be played during the early afternoon period due to the four-hour time difference, and will surely enjoy the electric atmosphere.

As any football supporter, we are looking forward to summer, and the longer days that come with them. We can’t imagine anything better than relaxing and watching football at the pub with our mates.
