Seamus ColemanHas David Moyes had his Manchester United career saved by a flying Dutchman?

Robin Van Persie put in a barnstorming performance on Wednesday night against Olympiakos, as his hat-trick helped The Red Devils to overturn a 2-0 deficit and progress to the next round of the Champions League.

Had Manchester United lost that game, I can’t help put wonder how long the club’s top brass would have stuck by him.

Let’s just hope that this provides some impetus for the rest of the season. Perhaps this will serve as a catalyst for Manchester United to start clambering up the Premier League table?

If David Moyes makes it to the summer transfer window without suffering any further humiliations, he can start to build a team in his image. If the United top brass are prepared to back him financially, he may just be able to turn things around.

And if all else fails, he can always turn to Robin, can’t he?

But let’s get back to the transfer market. According to The Mirror, Manchester United are ready to push ahead with a £15m move for Everton right-back, Seamus Coleman.

It seems that David Moyes just can’t stay away from his old Everton charges. He’s already signed Marouane Fellaini, he’s shown interest in Leighton Baines and now it’s beginning to look like he’ll make a move for Seamus Coleman.

Coleman has been in fine form this season, providing excellent support for Everton down the flanks and tracking back whenever necessary. Anybody who has him in their Fantasy Football team will attest that he’s been supremely effective this season.

At just 25-years-old, he’s now entering the best years of his career. With Manchester United struggling for options in this area of the pitch, making him a transfer target strikes me as a smart move.

Of course, it’s David Moyes returning to his comfort zone once again, but given Coleman’s ability, this regression is somewhat welcome.

Here’s hoping that he has more luck signing Seamus Coleman than he did snapping up Leighton Baines. Fingers crossed.

What’s your take? Is Seamus Coleman a good option for Manchester United? What else does David Moyes need to do to get the club back on course?
