Toni Kroos 2I hope that David Moyes hasn’t booked a summer vacation. He’s going to need all the time he can get if he’s too pull of the kind of signings necessary to turn Manchester United’s fortunes around.

The Red Devils have been a  shambles this season. On their day they’ve been capable of losing to anybody. In general they look insipid, uninspired and terrified of the counter-attack.

Moyes seems to favour an ultra-defensive approach that sees some of his best players resigned to positions where they can’t really pull any strings.

Take Juan Mata for an instance. We all know how talented the little Spaniard is, but since arriving at Old Trafford, he’s barely been able to influence proceedings. Of course, this is partly down to the fact that he’s still adapting to his new surroundings, but it’s also partly due to Moyes’ unnatural caution.

I’d say it’s about time that he signed more players he can trust. He needs more players who are capable of excelling in attacking roles. In particular, he needs players with the pedigree necessary to launch Manchester United back up the Premier League table.

The Mirror recently ran an article suggesting that United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward is already hard at work securing some summer transfers. The first of these is likely to be Sporting Lisbon’s impressive young defensive midfielder, William Carvalho.

The second is a player that should excite Manchester United fans: Toni Kroos. With The Mirror claiming that David Moyes is ‘confident’ that United can agree terms for the Bayern Munich midfielder, The Red Devils could be back on the path to success in no time.

There’s no word as to how much Kroos might cost, but he won’t come cheap. The German ace is one of Bayern Munich’s key players and has bags full of experience at the top level.

He’s a player who knows what it takes to win things. He also happens to have the technique, passing range and drive to take a club to the next level.

This deal still strikes me as a little unlikely, given how expensive Kroos would be, but the possibility is exciting in and of itself. Let’s just hope that David Moyes is capable of turning this possibility into a reality.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United finally look to agree a deal for Toni Kroos?
