Could this £1.5m deal be the perfect move for Arsenal?

Mirko Vucinic

Arsenal’s search for a striker this January has seen the club linked to some fairly big names. The Gunners have been mentioned in conjunction with strikers like Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa and FC Porto’s Jackson Martinez.

These would be marquee signings and would both likely command transfer fees of over £30m. As such, neither deal is likely to happen this January. Arsene Wenger just splashed cash on Mesut Ozil (£42.4m to be precise) and surely can’t afford to spend big again so soon.

Whilst I’m sure the fans will keep their fingers crossed, the time has come to be a little more realistic.

It’s clear that Arsenal need to bring in another striker. Olivier Giroud needs a little help upfront and Nicklas Bendtner needs to be taken as far away from the first team as possible. The Gunners don’t have many options upfront at the moment and their Premier League title charge could come to an untimely end as a result.

The Mirror recently ran a story that suggested Arsenal are currently sniffing around Juventus’ Mirko Vucinic. The Montenegro international is a decent finisher, has experience at the top level and would probably welcome a new challenge. He could be a smart addition to this Arsenal squad.

The source suggests that Arsenal are looking to wrap up a £1.5m loan deal, whilst the Turin based side are hoping to sell him outright for £10m. As such, negotiations have hit something of a stalemate.

After playing 43 games last year, Mirko hasn’t had as many opportunities this season. The arrival of Carlos Tevez has meant that he’s played just 11 times and scored only twice.

Safe to say, Juventus don’t really need him at the moment. If the Gunners stand firm, I’m sure the Serie A side will see sense and agree to a loan deal that see them earn a small amount of cash and save on the player’s wages.

Many know Vucinic as the player who takes off his shorts when celebrating. But there’s more to his game than this. He’s a smart individual who links up well with his midfield, has a good first touch and control and can be a deadly force in front of goal.

Whilst his goal-scoring record has never been particularly good, he would represent a good squad option for the Gunners. And isn’t that exactly what the club needs?

What’s your take? Should Arsenal attempt to wrap up this £1.5m loan deal?

I think that he vuchinic is a very grounded player with quick feet and would present a different attacking option which suits well the style of play and also a very good censervative ball player and one match is comming in my mind and was between juventus vs chelsea where terry was clearly outrun by him
