Fredy GuarinHaving endured a disastrously bad start to his Manchester United career, it’ll be fascinating to see how he responds in the January transfer window.

It’ll be the former Everton man’s opportunity to stamp his mark on this side and to start creating a team in his image. It’ll also be another chance for Manchester United to fix a midfield that has been broken for a couple of years now.

Moyes had an opportunity to do exactly this during the summer transfer window and failed spectacularly. I still view the signing of Marouane Fellaini as one of the biggest acts of managerial choking in the last decade or so.

But Moyes will be given further chances to prove himself, just as Sir Alex Ferguson was. So now it’s up to the fans to continue to back both him and the team. Hopefully he’s able to turn things around.

This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that David Moyes is weighing up a January move for Inter Milan star Fredy Guarin. The 27-year-old has earned himself an excellent reputation over the last two-or-three seasons and would add plenty of energy to this Manchester United side.

Fredy Guarin is an exciting player for a number of reasons. He’s a highly versatile footballer who’s capable of playing on the right wing or in the centre of the park. He’s capable of operating as a play-maker, or using his quick feet to beat his man, run in behind and cause havoc.

Best  of all, he’s got a real pile-driver of a shot on him.

Having proved his worth at FC Porto and now with Inter Milan, I’d say that he’s ready to make a move to the Premier League. If Manchester United are interested in him, they’ll have to shell out as much as £15m. Whilst that’s not exactly chimp change, it does represent fair value for a player who could make a real impact in the Premier League.

Given both his versatility, his ability and Manchester United’s clear and present need, this looks like something of a no brainer. Let’s just hope that David Moyes is ready to do whatever it takes this time.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United move in for Fredy Guarin? What other options should they consider this January?
