Is it time to start showing Arsene Wenger a little more respect?

wengerAfter watching the FA’s recent video to promote their ‘Respect’ campaign, an admirable and beneficial thing (watch it below), I’ve spent the last few days thinking about the fan-manager relationship and how most Premier League bosses simply aren’t getting the kudos they deserve.

Take Arsene Wenger, for instance, who must surely be the Premier League’s most put upon man, despite being one of the greatest managers of all time.

The flack that the Frenchman has had to put up with this summer has been flabbergasting. There are war criminals who have had it easier than him.

And what’s his crime? Failing to make signings in a timely manner.

Whilst I don’t necessarily agree with Arsenal’s approach to making signings this summer, I do digress to Arsene Wenger’s know-how and experience in the transfer window.

This isn’t Arsene Wenger’s first rodeo. He knows as well as anybody that the Gunner’s squad is a little too light and that new additions need to be had. The fact that they’re coming in so late isn’t due to laziness on the part of Arsenal’s top brass. It’s because the market has more or less been in stasis until players like Gareth Bale, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez resolve their future.

I’m sure there’s also a desire on Arsene’s point to try and get the best deal possible. I can’t really criticise him for that.

Arsene Wenger has won the Premier League three times and the FA Cup four times. His current dry spell doesn’t change the fact that he knows what’s he’s doing. A bit of perspective is needed.

Surely it’s time to start showing the man a bit of respect? Do we really have to break out a gigantic robot? Check out the video below and let me know what you think.

Yes he should be shown more respect and i agree he needs to get some new players but that is not easy to get better than he has now but we are little thin as a squad and 3 or 4 new signings will do but he is still one of the Worlds best manager and certainly the Worlds best Bank Manager.

Well said!! It’s disgusting how half our so called fans treat Wenger! I don’t care what pundits or the media says about him because they are normally bias against Arsenal BUT to have our own ‘supporters’ abuse Wenger the way some of them do is just wrong on so many levels! Then again those ‘fans’ who abuse Wenger are probably not the most intelligent of people so I guess you can’t blame them! Ignorance is bliss!
…I mean they want him sacked? WTF?? I’m not sure why they think getting rid of Wenger would mean we get a better manager? The only manager who is arguably better is a certain Alex Ferguson! He is retired so doubt he will become Wenger’s replacement! I think IF they got their wish and Wenger was sacked… those same silly ‘fans’ would, after a few months be begging for Wenger back!!
Wenger and Arsenal have been punching way above their weight for the last few years due to the financial cheating by clubs such as Chelsea/City! I thought it was obvious! I guess maybe its not! If Chelsea spend £650million on players in the last few years plus paid their players £150k a week and Arsenal could barely afford to pay players £100k a week and have a transfer budget where we could only spend a maximum of what £30/40million a year on new players and seeing Chelsea spent upto £150million a year…isn’t it obvious that it is much much harder to compete with cheating teams??
In the early 2000s when Arsenal and Wenger were winning everything, every year…there was only competition from 1 club! Manchester United!! Then Chelsea reared their ugly head and ugly style of football and their dirty, cheating ways and PAID for trophies! THEN a couple of years ago Citeh come along and do a Chelsea!! So for Arsenal just to be challenging and qualifying for the champs league each year and build and move into a new stadium whilst having to challenge cheating teams…Wenger needs total respect!! What an achievement considering the ‘super club’ competition we have nowadays!! WELL DONE WENGER!! Absolute LEGEND!! He more than anyone else in the world of football deserves respect, trust and glory!!!
