Gareth BaleBy now Tottenham fans must be tired of all the speculation regarding their star man, Gareth Bale. But the summer is long and there’s likely to be more to come.

We heard recently, that Real Madrid’s pursuits of the Welsh wizard were sped up by the appointment of new-boss, Carlo Ancelotti.

The Spanish giants have been keen on Bale for some time now, but may have wanted an ‘okay’ from whoever replaced Jose Mourinho before splashing the cash. I wonder how much uhming and ahhing Ancelotti had to do before deciding to give the go ahead.

I’d bet it didn’t take him long to reach a decision. After all, Bale was absolutely sensational last season. To be exact, he’s been sensational for the last three-four years, but last season he kicked it up another gear.

He was Tottenham’s saving grace on a number of occasions. His direct running, boundless energy and eye for goal (all over the pitch) make him a constant threat. He’s got bags of confidence, tries things other players wont and has the ability to pull them off. He was easily the Premier League’s stand-out player last year, despite Luis Suarez’s best efforts.

Naturally, Andre Villas-Boas will be keen to keep his main man. Tottenham fans would be devastated to see him go. But, Spurs as an entity would survive without him. Indeed, if Daniel Levy et al play their cards right, they may be able to create a more balanced, more effective team.

If the speculation regarding Bale’s future has grown stale, so to must the claims that Spurs are a one man team. I’d argue that it’s time for the club to come out from under the Welshman’s shadow.

According to The Mirror, Real Madrid are willing to do a player plus cash deal for Gareth Bale. One of the players listed in this potential swap deal is Angel Di Maria. If Madrid are willing to offer another £65m+, then Spurs should start listening.

Let’s face it. Bale will move on at some point. It’s up to AVB to ensure that the club get the best deal possible for him. If they get a classy winger and the money to buy two world-class strikers, I’d argue that Spurs will come back stronger next year, even if they don’t have Bale to pull the strings.

What’s your take? Would you consider selling Gareth Bale, or should Spurs continue to reject all interest?

I’ve been saying this for a month. Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have started picking up players. The Spurs should get this deal done ASAP so that they can pick up at least 3 world class players with the money that Madrid will pay for Bale. He is going to leave sooner or later, and it’s only smart, from a business standpoint, to get the ball rolling now, and start rebuilding this team. A team cannot succeed on the shoulders of 1 player, and that’s exactly was Has happened here. You know that many people are whispering in his ear that he should be playing regularly in the champions league, and it’s only a matter of time before he starts agreeing with them, if he hasn’t already.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have begun improving their squads. The Spurs need to finalize the Bale deal so they can turn themselves into a more competitve team. The money from the sale would enable the Spurs to pick up at least 3 world class players. They cannot continue to be a 1 man team .
