LewandowskiScoring 36 goals in 48 appearances is bound to attract attention throughout Europe. Especially when you can back this up with a good scoring record throughout the rest of your career. Just ask Robert Lewandowski, a man who may well be this summer transfer window’s hottest property.

Heck even Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has been sticking his nose into proceedings. He recently told the Press: “He would fit ideally into our team, Arsenal” (Source: The Express).

That’s true, but it’s also true to say that he’d fit neatly into almost any team.

Lewandowski is basically a brilliant all-round striker. For a start, he has excellent touch and control, can hold the ball up, bring others into play and take opponents on. He’s got all kinds of goals in his locker: chip shots, tap-ins and 30-yard stunners. He’s the real deal, which is why he has attracted the attention of clubs like Manchester United and Bayern Munich this summer.

But given Podolski’s comments, Arsenal fans may well begin to hope their club gets involved.

Lewandowski has just a year left on his Borussia Dortmund contract and you get the feeling that the Bundesliga side would be keen to ship him off to the Premier League to avoid their rivals, Bayern, snapping him up.

That’s not to say Arsenal would get him for a bargain price, simply that they’d be in a position where they’d be able to negotiate. When you consider his salary demands and a potentially large price-tag, the Gunners could have to splash out a significant sum to get this talented Polish forward.

But they do have money to spend. After all, they’ve recently signed some fantastic  commercial deals, have shipped off some dead-weight (goodbye Andrei Arshavin, Sebastien Squillaci and Denilson!) and they’ve been saving up for the last half-decade or so.

But would Lewandowski be interested in a club like Arsenal? It’s tough to say. Wenger would have to somehow prove that his is a club that is capable of winning silverware and competing in Europe. At the moment, the Gunners are someway away from this. But by signing Robert Lewandowski, they’ll be that much closer.

Indeed, his arrival along with a couple of other smart signings, could signal Arsenal’s ascension back into the European elite.

What’s your take? Can Arsenal really compete for Robert Lewandowski? Is Podolski right, would he be ‘ideal’ signing for the Gunners?

It would be nice but can’t see arsenal buying two top strikers and top holding midfielder and top goalie. Unless we sold more players like Gevinho rosciky fabrianski santos park Chamack and diaby then we could bring in top top quality players..! Up the Arsenal for ever..!
