From Ancelotti’s Arrival In Madrid To Man City’s Failed Transfer Bid – This Week In Futbol

|

Carlo Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti has been named as the latest Real Madrid manager, bringing the tally to somewhere in the region of four figures.

Let’s hope Ancelotti hasn’t spent much on his new house.

Since 1990 there have been 25 managers at the Bernabeu, with Vicente Del Bosque’s 4 year stay being the longest tenure.

He’s got straight down to business with the first signing of the summer for the Spanish giants, Isco.

Isco had been on the Man City radar for what seems like an eternity but even ex-Real and Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini couldn’t tempt him towards Eastlands.

The deal is reported to be £23m, in other words a quarter of Cristiano Ronaldo.  For a player who could become one of the world’s best it seems like a good piece of business.

Ancelotti deserves all the luck he can get at Madrid, he has always impressed with his professionalism and recently delighted many young, aspiring coaches by taking PE teacher-turned assistant Paul Clement under his wing.

His success at Chelsea emulated that of José Mourinho but was kicked out for daring to finish second in the Premier League (in the two seasons after the Ancelotti era Chelsea have finished 6th and 3rd.).

He also handled the Qatari interruption at PSG well, especially the David Beckham signing where he showed dignity and respect.  God only knows what others would do in that situation.

This will serve him well considering that Real Madrid is ruled by those above.

Good luck should also go to Ancelotti’s successor Laurent Blanc.

Rumoured to have been eighth choice, Blanc will have to achieve first place to survive as much as a year.

Obviously, no one wants to be in his shoes at the moment.

Man City Cut Their Carlos-ses

Carlos Tevez has had to swap his beloved Manchester for Turin after joining Juventus for £10m.  The Argentine has put pen to paper on a three year contract.

This is a sign that Man City are looking to balance their huge books in line with incoming UEFA Financial Fair Play rules.  It’s also the first major piece of business that Manuel Pellegrini has conducted at City since his ‘official’ arrival earlier this summer.

Tevez is a fine footballer but his attitude is among the worst ever displayed by a professional in the modern era.  His pathetic antics almost cost his club the title two seasons ago.

For the good of Juventus alone, let’s hope Tevez refrains from going AWOL at a crucial time in the campaign.

Isco would stick out like a sore thumb at Man City. Hahaha clueless i think you have forgotten some players who currently play for the club. Aguero, Yaya, Kompany, Navas, Nasri & Silva. My 5 year old nephew knows more about football than you. ThisisNOTfootball.com would be more apt.

‘If you think about it, it seems like a good decision from Isco, he would stick out like a sore thumb at Manchester City.’
Yeah, he’d never get to play with any good midfielders at City, just people like Silva, Toure, Nasri, Navas, Fernandinho.

‘It’s also the first major piece of business that Manuel Pellegrini has conducted at City since his arrival earlier this summer.’
Apart from the signings of Navas and Fernandinho you mean? You so called ‘journos’ make me laugh, one claims that they weren’t Pellegrini’s signings and you all sing the same tune. Even though the club made it clear that he sanctioned them both.

Laughable article really and reeks of anti City bias.
