Arsenal have a ‘big interest’ in this £10m talent: should they seal the deal?

Victor WanyamaIn recent days, there’s been a lot of speculation surrounding Arsenal and a certain midfield powerhouse who currently plays for Celtic. The man in question is Victor Wanyama, a 21-year-old Kenyan midfielder, who would certainly provide the Gunners with some bulk.

Wanyama has been linked to Manchester United, Manchester City, Stoke, Southampton, Newcastle and Fulham, though it now looks like Arsenal are favourites to secure his signature. It’s easy to see where the speculation is coming from. Just check out these quotes from the player’s agent, Jean-Marie Abeels:

“Victor’s father Noah calls me almost every week and he tells me Arsenal’s interest is big. Wenger spoke to Celtic around a month ago and Victor’s father and his mother Mildred says he would prefer to go there before any other club. I will be speaking to his parents again in a week’s time and Victor also. But I already know that Arsenal have a big interest in the player.” (Source: Daily Mail)

Exactly how big Arsenal’s interest is remains to be seen. It does strike me, however, that Arsenal need a player with his ilk. Somebody with a certain physical intensity. Somebody who’s capable of providing the Gunner’s smaller players (Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, etc) with a bit of protection.

He’s thought to be a bit hot-headed, but perhaps that’s what Arsenal need? Wanyama would provide a competitive edge that this side has been missing for a while. All this and he’s just 21-years-old. There’s a lot more to come from Celtic’s combative midfielder.

One man who would be excited by his arrival is Aaron Ramsey: “If Arsenal get to sign Victor Wanyama, I will be the first to welcome him. I have watched him play for Celtic, I watched him score against Barcelona and I think he is a great player. Whether he will join us is for other people to decide.”

Why Ramsey has been quizzed on this particular issue is anybody’s guess. I’m also not so sure that the Welshman would ‘welcome’ Wanyama. After all, the two players are likely to be in direct competition for a place in the Arsenal first team.

Wanyama is believed to have a price-tag of £10m. That’s a lot of money for a player his age, but given the potential he’s shown, I’d argue it would be a worthy investment. I’m with Aaron Ramsey on this one. Arsene, sign him up!

What’s your take? Is Victor Wanyama just the ticket for Arsenal?

THANK YOU PAPARAZI.. ARSENAL IS NOW LINKED WITH A MOVE FOR ALL FOOTBALLERS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MESSI AND RONALDO. PLEASE GIVE US DONE DEALS. WE ARE TIRED OF LINKING ARSENAL TO THREE PLAYERS DAILY WHEN THE BOARD KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT THEM

Victor Wanyam WILL DEFINITE be an astute ‘buy’ NOW!
The deal MUST & WILL show the strong intent Arsenal will have in this coming 2013 /2014 season!
With, hopefully, the deals in the pipeline for Higuain, Julio Ceasar, Capoue / Gourcaff or even Jovetic and Fabregas …. Arsenal will be a source for contention in the EPL and CL!

Unless £10m is the first installment then they’ve no chance! Lennon rates him at £25m and even if that is seen as a bit of an exaggeration you still have to imagine he’s not going to let him go as cheaply as £10m.

  • Da King says:

Let wenger, gazidis, kroenke and the rest of the board stop all dis linking and linking of players everyday and go ahead and sign a world class player. You have to use money to find money e.gChelsea,PSG,Bayern,Real Madrid and Man City etc.
