Romelu LukakuLiverpool fans like to see Manchester United in dire straights. It’s one of the few pieces of fun left available to a club who has found success elusive in the last two-or-three seasons.

So it’s only natural that the club would go after the man who spoiled Fergie’s farewell, by scoring a hat-trick in the insane 5-5 draw between Manchester United and West Brom on the final day of the season.

That man is on-loan Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku. At just 20-years-old, he’s already developed a Didier Drogba-esque physique. Better yet, the Belgium born forward also shares Drogba’s confidence in front of goal.

He scored 33 goals in 73 appearances at former club Anderlecht and has found the back of the net 17 times in 35 appearances for mid-table side West Brom.

Imagine what this lad could do if he had service from the likes of Steven Gerrard, and was playing alongside Luis Suarez or Daniel Sturridge? It could be a real sight to behold.

According to CaughtOffside, Brendan Rodgers will look to use his former Chelsea connections to seal a deal for the Lukaku. If the Blues move for another big name striker this summer, Lukaku may become available at an extremely reasonable price.

But would Liverpool fans be excited by his arrival?

In most cases, I’d argue against Liverpool signing a 20-year-old. After all, the Reds have plenty of talented youngsters knocking about already. But Lukaku isn’t your average gifted youngster. He’s a striker who has already proven himself in the Premier League.

A ferocious talent, who makes mincemeat of defenders and scores goals for fun. Despite being considerably younger than Daniel Sturridge, I’m not sure he’s that far behind the English International when it comes to goal scoring ability.

Suffice to say, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at Lukaku. There’s no telling just how good he’s going to get over the course of the next three-or-four years. If he carries on improving at his current rate, his price-tag is only likely to sky-rocket.

Liverpool need additional fire-power but probably don’t have a lot of money to spend. In this sense, Lukaku would be a good fit. With Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Romelu Lukaku in tow, the Reds would certainly be more threatening going forward next season.

What’s your take? Should Liverpool be in the market for Romelu Lukaku, or should they be aiming higher?

Chelsea will, at least should, keep Lukaku next year and play him. Can’t see them selling to us…..but would love a strong, mobile target man like him.

will never happen. more likely to get ba instead. one more year, lukaku will be unstoppable and chelsea knows that.

i wish this is true…i always wonder why we are not trying to buy a a proven premier league striker like him…he is more than enough to cover the absence of suarez…and will do good as a second striker…

Keep dreaming. We are not a selling club. Even if we decided to sell Lukaku he would cost you north of 20 million. We acquired him for 18 million and if (and thats a big if) we decided to sell then 25 million minimum would do. Those aren’t exactlay peanuts especialy when you take into account that Mario Gomez is valued at 24 million and is definately more proven at top flight level than Romelu.

Let’s try to snatch him cos chelsea want him back difficult.

Mid table West Brom….how patronising. Finished one place below Liverpool and beat you home and away.
So why would Rom not go back to little old Albion as he was a success and well liked by players and supporters alike !
WBA are a well run club and haven’t been bailed out by foreign money !
