Could this £20m Arsene-loving talent be a perfect fit for Arsenal?

Arda TuranWith most of Arsenal’s wingers vying for a place down the middle, in the centre of the Gunner’s attack (Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott and Gervinho), it would be nice to see Arsene Wenger sign an out-and-out winger.

The Gunners need somebody who can provide them with width and help stretch the play. They need a natural wide-man who can take players on, beat their man and get into dangerous positions. Whilst the pace of Theo Walcott has proven effective on occasion, the inconsistency of Gervinho and the fitness problems of Podolski have been an issue.

But Arsenal do have money to spend. The club has signed a couple of massive commercial deals and seem to have been stockpiling cash over the last half decade or so. There’s every chance that Arsene Wenger could snap up a few danger men this summer.

Turkish Football recently claimed that the Gunners are monitoring Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan and are ready to swoop in and snap him up this summer.

The players agent, Adhmet Bulut has already spoken about his future, listing Arsenal among his suitors: “There are a few club interested, Liverpool are one and so are Arsenal. There are no official or concrete offers at the moment but two clubs have spoken about wages.”

He is interested in working under Arsene Wenger because he is very good at working with young players, and Arda wants to work in England.”

The fact that he singles out Arsenal is intriguing. All the more so given Turan’s technical ability, direct running and footballing smarts.

It strikes me that the Gunners could use a player in this mould. Somebody who isn’t afraid to take defenders on, commit the and create space. Most importantly, Turan has a final ball, something most of Arsenal’s wingers lack.

The Turkish wing-man is rumoured to have a £20m release-clause. But Arsene Wenger is known for driving a hard bargain and if the player wants the move, a better deal may yet be agreed. If the Gunners can bring his price-tag down to a reasonable price, they’ll get a player who could seriously raise their effectiveness moving forward.

And that could be the first step (along with adding more players) to challenging for silverware next season.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal be in the market for Turkish ace Arda Turan, or should they look elsewhere?

  • adutmarial mabor says:

arsenal need that kind of player help them wings forward

  • i.stratton says:

could be a great addition and we could definitely do with a hard working talented winger. but getting a bit fed up with the pops at poldi, he,s had a really solid if unspectacular first season at the club but you need to judge him at the end of his second year. i love him and think he,ll really show his class next season ,especially if we get a player of turans type and quality .gervinho on the other hand has far more to prove.

    Good player

  • Jez says:

Poldolski has been one of our most effective players and you want to swap him, you bloody thicko’s.

Gervinio swap but not poldolski who has had a fantastic season even though he is injured. When is fully fit poldolski will terrorise teams.

  • oluseye samuel says:

i think is noy wise for arsenal wenger to swap poldi for any player becouse he is still relevant to the team so hes preferable to guoviho by me

  • sammy says:

A swap deal with podolski isn’t a bad one. Podolski is a little bit slow on counter attack and has been proved ineffective as a top striker. Sell him or go 4 a swap. But our priorities are top striker, DM, Right full back and a CD.

  • nick says:

Wenger if u sell poldi imma flying to LONDON to have your HEAD!!!!!!

  • wardy says:

a gervinho swap deal would be beneficial. Would be happy to part with 8 mill plus the forehead. Walcott, Alex, Pod and Turan now there’s some options.
Do you think barca would want a trade? Bendtner for Villa?! they bought song didnt they!
I still think its muscle in midfield we desperately need. spend some money on Capoue or someone of the same ilk.

  • Abubakar gimba says:

Wenger why linking all the players in the whole of football but end of buying nothing?

  • George Lyon says:
