Could Manchester United really pull off this £55m+ shock move?

|

Tottenham's Gareth Bale will face Real Madrid in the quarter finals of the Champion's LeagueAs if winning the Premier League title with a few games to spare wasn’t enough, freshly-crowned Champions Manchester United may well give their fans more good news to cheer about soon enough.

We all know that Sir Alex Ferguson isn’t one to rest on his laurels. Even when he brings success to the club, he’s always looking to build on it and come back even stronger next year. This philosophy makes me wonder what he has planned for the coming summer.

If the rumours are true, it’s something big. Click Manchester claim that Sir Alex is lining up a huge, £55m, part-exchange deal for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale.

That’s right, the same Gareth Bale, who claimed two PFA awards recently. The same Gareth Bale, who has kept Tottenham in the running for a Champions League spot, even as his side has struggled to maintain its form.

We’ve always known that Bale is a sensational talent. But this season, he’s taken his game to all new levels. His pace, direct running, and goal-threat are a genuine sight to behold. In terms of matching craft with endeavour, there are very few players out there who are at Bale’s level. He’s surely now amongst the five best footballers in the world.

With that in mind, there will likely be some questions as to whether United can afford to pursue Bale. That’s likely why we’re talking about a part-exchange deal, with a whopping £55m upfront. This would be a massive investment from United and would weaken their ability to spend money on other areas of their squad.

Having said that though, as a signing, it would likely more or less guarantee that Manchester United will spend another season right at the top of the Premier League. It could also make them seriously competitive in the Champions League.

The players mentioned as being part of this potential swap deal, are: Ashley Young, Anderson and Nani. Of that unruly trio, Nani must be the only one of any real appeal for Tottenham. He can play in Bale’s role and is still clearly a talented footballer when he’s willing to put in a shift.

Anderson and Young on the other hand? I think United will have more difficulty flogging these two.

At the moment, it’s difficult to see Bale moving on from Manchester United. But if he does, I’m sure Manchester United will provide some appeal to him.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United be chasing a big-money move for Gareth Bale?

Wht a load of rubish. We wont sell bale to anyone in the prem. we dont want anderson or young. How could you throw in nani when he is out of contract anyway. And 55m honestly!!! When zidane is stating that real will pay 60 easy. Why would we sell him to you for 55m. Dont you remember modric

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Another rubbish story. Manchester United can’t afford him and Spurs won’t sell to them. As soon as you see talk of player swaps you just know that all you’re reading is a lorry load of wishful thinking that looks like manure.

Don’t give up the day job Harry (on this evidence you probably haven’t got one) unless you’re trying to break into comedy

  • George says:

  • Ray says:

Harry, Harry, Harry, you really haven’t learnt a thing about Daniel Levy have you?
Long gone are the day’s that he will ever contemplate selling our top stars to another EPL club. Please stop writing such bollocks.

  • Matt says:

@ omari. if money talks, real’s money would sound far sweeter than yours. if a swap deal is to be made, then higuain would have far better appeal than any of the three names mentioned. as for the article, fair play, but i’m quite sure spurs won’t be selling to another epl club, not even to man u.

  • John lawson says:

It will be great idea for man united.

  • Stuart Andrew says:

Are you seriously joking? this is such a non starter and I would expect a little more from this editor. He is now according to Z Zidane worth over 60m, and the chairman said if he was to want to go to a EPL rival he would shove an extra 10m on top.

Anderson and Ashley young haven’t preformed to there abilities this season and if we were offered 2 Anderson’s and 2 Youngs + 55m it still wouldn’t be favourable to Spurs, Why? cause Bale is irreplaceable and is, and he will be worth more than C.R record transfer and with the rate of inflation and the way the market goes he’ll be worth 100m in 2-3 years time. So its not in our best interests to sell at all or to a rival…..just yet.
So go write about something a little more factual and not you just wishing for a star to drop in your lap…..lol

  • nik says:

Tats a stupid idea… we dont need bale…

  • ipinko says:

This is nonsense!55+ for bale not possible. C R is better @ that rate.
