Moussa SowThough signing Daniel Sturridge in the January transfer window was a step in the right direction, Liverpool still have plenty of work to do in this department.

Much of their lacklustre performances this season can be reduced to a lack of cut and thrust upfront and too much reliance on the incredible and despicable (incredibly despicable?) Uruguayan menace, Luis Suarez.

He’s a top player and a genuine goal-threat but he can’t do it alone. And Daniel Sturridge, despite a strong start to his Liverpool career, has started to slow down. Adding another player to the Reds’ attacking line-up and increasing levels of competition could create some genuine, lasting results.

In short, it could be just the kick up the ass the club needs. It could re-ignite the fire in Liverpool’s belly.

But who on God’s green earth, should Brendan Rodgers be looking at?

He’s probably already drawing up the shortlist and I hope that Fenerbache striker Moussa Sow is part of that list.

He’s a striker who has been linked to the Premier League for a while and seems to thrive on the speculation. Following the recent round of Internationals, he has been quoted as saying:

There is a lot of talk. I’m happy at Fenerbahçe and don’t think about leaving. However, everyone knows I want to play in the Premier League one day. If Liverpool made a formal offer, if my club accepted I would be happy to play in England.” (Source: Turkish Football),

That doesn’t sound like a player not thinking about leaving. It may only be a matter of time before he makes the switch and I hope it’s with Liverpool.

He’s a consistent goalscorer and has been since his time at Lille. And he hasn’t stopped since moving to Turkey. This season he has grabbed 17 goals and 8 assists, whilst impressing with his all round play. He’d provide a perfect counter-balance to Luis Suarez.

He’s physically strong, great in the air and he’s also smart. He takes up good positions, can win the ball and knows how to steer it into the back of the net. His consistency and goal-threat would provide Liverpool with more force going forward. It would certainly keep Daniel Sturridge on his toes – he’d know that he needs to fight for his place in the team.

There’s no talk of how much he’d cost, but if the right price can be agreed, he’d represent a smart Brendan Rodgers purchase.

What’s your take? Would Moussa Sow fit right in at Anfield?
