Henrikh MkhitaryanAm I the only one who didn’t hear about Armenian goal-scoring sensation, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, until this season? Where has he been hiding all this time?

The short answer to this question is this: the Ukraine. Despite Mkhitaryan’s club, Shaktar Donetsk’s relatively good standing in Europe, the League he plays in just isn’t that well respected. As a result, it’s only after his sensational goal tally this season, that he’s really managed to garner any kind of media attention. This means I’ve barely had time to learn how to spell his name.

The Metro claims that the 24-year-old winger has ‘switched agents in a bid to secure a summer move to Liverpool’. He’s signed with Italian agent Mino Raiola, with the goal of securing a move out of the Shaktar to a bigger club.

Why is Raiola relevant to this story? The ‘super-agent’ (that adjective doesn’t really belong alongside that profession) has brokered big deals for the likes of Manchester United and Juventus and also has a good relationship with Liverpool.

If Mkhitaryan is really angling for a move to Liverpool, siding with Raiola isn’t a bad move.

As for Liverpool, it’s claimed that Brendan Rodgers is keen to secure the Armenian ace. But he’ll face competition from the likes of Tottenham in doing so.

I’m not surprised Europe’s brightest and best have taken interest in Mkhitaryan. After all, the winger has scored an astonishing 24 goals in 34 matches. Most strikers would trade their souls for that kind of tally. His all round game is nothing to turn your nose up at either. He’s an extremely mobile player, who moves across the pitch with grace and finesse. He’s also a direct runner, who inserts himself into dangerous areas, exploits space well and is able to distribute the ball.

And, of course, he’s also a not afraid to take a pot-shot, many of which have a Lampardian tendency of finding the back of the net. For these qualities, he’s earned a £15m price-tag. That’s a lot of money, no doubt, but if he can repeat his scoring feat over the next couple of seasons, he’ll pay his new club back fairly quickly.

Liverpool, more than Tottenham, are a club who need to add some inspiration to their midfield. With this in mind, Henrikh Mkhitaryan may be just the ticket.

What’s your take? Would you like to see Liverpool secure a deal for this unstoppable goal-scoring talent?

I hardly think Liverpool are going to sign all of the six players you have mentioned , how are they going to have the funds your looking at, at least between 60 to 65 millions worth of talent.

  • Mark says:

Reina, johnson, de vrij, agger, enrique. lucas, gerrard, mkhityan or erriksen. then lw coutinhio. rw suarez. sturridge upfront.
ince, wieman, clyne, wanyama, honda other possible signings.. those players would make one hell of a summer for liverpool.

not say that this guy not good enough to lfc,but we need a good player that not cost club to much.and i think BR should bring Mf-DIame(strong,fast and creative player) ST-benteke (already proven to be good on the pitch) CB-lovren(tall,fast n strong.good replacement for j.carrager).And i think that BR should bring A.Carrol back to the club.So sorry to all lfc fan all around the world, actualy im very pleased if lfc sell luis suarez. He are very good and sharp ST,but i cannot accept his bad discipline and attitude on the pitch.

hahaha Spurs wont sign a player thats only good enough for the championship, but Liverpool … well as a yesterdays team they will get what they can especially as Suarez will leave this summer, pmsl omg how the once mighty have fallen hahaha

  • Zafer says:

Top end BR is going to have £30-40m to blow in transfer window same as before. Talk of Benteke is out the window unless Suarez goes. Also £15m on winger unproven in league is hard to believe, half of budget gone on a punt.. Hardly at £8m worth a go but not at much more.
