Burak YilmazOne of the Champions League’s most compelling and effective stars this season is a player who isn’t exactly well known throughout the footballing world.

He’s scored as many goals as Lionel Messi has in Europe this year. He has notched just one less than Cristiano Ronaldo. He is absolutely devastating in his effectiveness in front of goal.

His name, is Burak Yilmaz.

Whilst footballing fans rave about the likes of non-Premier League strikers, Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani, Yilmaz doesn’t seem to get the same treatment. That’s unless you’re a regular follower of Turkish, football where you’ll have been amazed by his tenacity and clinicality.

Indeed, the Galatasaray star has found the back of the net 28 times in 34 games for both club and country – including 8 in the Champions League. It seems that he’s a threat, no matter what level of the game he’s in.

His goal-scoring form has naturally seen him linked to some of Europe’s elite, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool. What’s more, he looks like a player who is perfectly suited for the Premier League, with his height, power, presence and physicality.

Galatasaray’s manager, Fatih Terim has already admitted that his club could struggle to keep hold of Yilmaz this summer: “It’s not going to be easy to keep him. He has targets but it will be his decision. Being wanted is a good thing, but we are fond of him and believe he will do great things for us in the future.” (Source: Daily Mail)

This source also claims that he may leave Galatasary for as little as £10m this summer. That’s a startlingly low figure for a player who has been scoring goals for fun this season. It should also make him an attractive prospect for Arsenal. Manchester United already have a top-class forward-line, whilst Liverpool have just signed Daniel Sturridge. Arsenal on the other hand, have a pressing need.

Since Robin Van Persie left the Emirates last summer, Arsenal have struggled to find any real ‘edge’ upfront. Yilmaz be exactly the kind of player they need to step in and start scoring regular goals. At 27-years-old, I’d argue he’s ready to join a club like Arsenal and start competing for trophies. And if Arsenal can pick him up for around £10m, the club will have got their hands on a genuine bargain.

What’s your take? Would Burak Yilmaz be a good fit at Arsenal?

yilmaz is a very good player but i don’t think he will make it in epl.. maybe la liga might suit him better… you can watch his clips here http://adf.ly/L8PUd

for me i realy believe he can be a good signing for arsenal considering his goal scoring record, not only when you sign a player from maybe the top 5 european leagues or you spent millions on him that he’s worldclass for example who know higuan before he was sign by real madrid just to mention.

Any player who can score 8-10 Champions League goals is welcome to Arsenal. Maybe he can do Matrix as Van Persie who have the telepathic sense of scoring oppotunities.

He deserves Gunners b/c he is young , brilliant and cheap.

  • Ajay says:

Yilmaz is s good player, and a great finisher but he will not make it in the epl. He simply does not move around enough and although he is top scorer..even the galatasray fans get frustrated with him. He’s worse then berbatov off the ball.
