1. Bundesliga: Hamburger SV - BV Borussia DortmundSometimes a player becomes the subject of such speculation, that you start to actively will him to move clubs. At least that would put a stop to all the stories that pedal the same nonsense about his future.

Robert Lewandowski is one of those players. He’s Borussia Dortmund’s leading man and arguably the most deadly striker in the entire Bundesliga.

But he’s been that way for almost three seasons now. It’s little wonder that he’s beginning to attract interest from other clubs. There’s a reason why the speculation around his future just wont stop. Wherever he ends up, he’s sure to have a massive impact.

Which brings me to this story from The Express, which claims that Manchester United are looking to secure a £20m deal for Lewandowski, but face staunch opposition from Bundesliga table-toppers, Bayern Munich.

In truth, this isn’t really a ‘news’ story. Manchester United have been linked to Lewandowski for the best part of a year.

And this interest persists, despite United’s strength in depth going forward. On a good day, Sir Alex Ferguson can choose from the likes of Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck. All of whom would be worthy of a starting berth in most other teams, but are forced to duke it out against each other at Old Trafford.

If there’s any truth to these rumours, you have to wonder: is Sir Alex just adding further strength to an already strong team, or is he buying a replacement for one of the aforementioned players?

Regardless, Lewandowski would be a ‘big’ signing. One that could inspire Manchester United to further success next season. He may not have Robin Van Persie’s technical ability, or Wayne Rooney’s drive and passion, but he is a fine finisher and links up well with the midfield.

Last season he scored 30 goals in 47 appearances. This season he already has 31 goals in 42 appearances. The big Polish striker is simply unstoppable in front of goal.

This confidence and mobility would certainly come in handy at Old Trafford.

But the last thing they need is to get into a scrap with Bayern Munich. At £20m, Lewandowski would be a steal, but should the Germans pump the price up any higher, United may do well to duck out and spend their cash bolstering the defence and the centre of the park.

Either way, let’s just hope the whole will-he, wont-he, stops soon enough.

What’s your take? Why are Manchester United pursuing another forward?
