Liverpool’s Summer Transfer Wish-List:

Talks of Brazilian Dede (source: The Mirror) have also emerged as of late and will certainly make a great addition due to the fact Rodgers doesn’t fancy Skrtel or Coates to fill the central defence slot alongside Agger. Martin Kelly would make a great centre back due to his commanding presence and vocal approach to the game and would certainly save on funds. Whether Rodgers can see him playing there in the future is another matter entirely.

Another position of pertinence is the left-back spot. I feel perhaps cover for Jose Enrique or competition would be great as there is no decent back up. Whenever he is out injured, Glen Johnson is switched to the opposite flank, whereby he does a fantastic job, nonetheless playing out of his favoured right-back role. There are slim-pickings for the role but I feel Aly Cissokho (source: The Express) meets the criteria of the quintessential modern day full-back. He has Champions League experience, is strong, has great pace and technically is very good on the ball.

I also feel we need a thorough-bred holding midfielder, one with pace and strength and who reads the game through anticipation. As much improved Lucas Leiva is, he still commits far too many fouls for my liking. There are talks of bringing Xabi Alonso back to the club but this may just be conjecture with reports of his agent leaking out hogwash in order to garner a handsome contract (Source: NBC Sports).

Another quality winger wouldn’t go amiss as I don’t think Stewart Downing makes the grade. He’s a decent squad player but in the big games he goes missing and lacks the bite of a quality winger that can wreak havoc damage on opposition defences. Rumours flying about have stated Hatem Ben Arfa may be on Brendan Rodgers wish list and a possible cash plus player swap could be incentivised with Andy Carroll making the switch back to former club (Source: The Mirror). I think it would be great business because of the abundant skill and quality on the ball he has.

Bringing in these players will mean some will have to leave inevitably. Sebastian Coates looks likely to be leaving in the summer. Martin Skrtel also looks out of place in the current set with the amount of mistakes he has made this year; it seems Rodgers appears to be casting his gaze elsewhere. With Jamie Carragher retiring, Andre Wisdom could do with some more experience as could Jonjo Shelvey and so possible loan deals for them would be great. Andy Carroll also looks to be departing cometh the summer and if wingers do come in Stewart Downing may also leave unless he is content with a squad role.

I think if all these targets are met, with a few players being sold or loaned out, we’ll have a fighting chance of making an impact on the top four next year, winning a domestic cup and having a good run in Europe, pending we qualify. are seeking new writers to join the team! Ben Arfa Season is a no for me. Too injury prone. FSG wont sanction a move for Alonso as he is now too old to make any money on.

Strootman Mertenes and Coentrao won’t be available or viable. But I like the team you assembled, attacking and creative.

Liverpool is a waste, couldn’t beat Reading, the manager must go

  • KB says:

We need to get rid of Carroll for more than we paid which is gonna be a problem. We also need a decent 2nd keeper unless Jones learns to catch in mid-season.

    • haider ali says:

I agree we need to get rid of Carroll. If he was a bench warmer bought on the cheap on low wages I wouldn’t mind keeping him because he adds something different, but on the whole he ain;t good enough. We’ll have a problem recouping the money we paid. West Ham won’t be buying him and want to bid as low as ten million pounds. I say 15m and Ben Arfa will do but Newcastle will be barmy to go for such a deal.

lfc player is gud enough only adds a few player in defense but BR didn’t manage it well

    • haider ali says:

I think he’s managed as well as he could have. He lost experienced players in Maxi and Kuyt who would have done well in this system I think. He also inherited a shabby squad, lets face it Carroll, Downing and Henderson and Adams haven’t been good enough. He also messed up signing Borini and Allen. They are not good enough. But his January signings give me hope for the summer.

  • Filo says:

So Carraghar is Retiring means ” Toby Alderweireld or Sakho or Dede or Simon Kjaer” should be on the Top list of CB for BR…and also Michal Richard should be signed to, he’ll help us on both RB or LB if any is injured, so Coates and Wilson should be Sold..

Secondly our Mid and Wings needs some help, So Strootman , Eriksens and Tom Ince are the players we need, they’re good talented players, with Lucas, Coutinho and Gerrard in the mid, it will be good partnership, so Allen and Downing should be Sold at this time and Loan out Shelvey to a BPL team

Last thing for Forward, Carrol will be sold forsure and Borini should be sold too, that means We’ll only be left by 2 Strikers, so the player i hope BR will sign is Christain Bentika from Aston Villa, hes only 22 and his first season in BPL with 18 goals, thats good on his Debut season, he’ll be a Star in the Future…

So thats it, Sell 5 useless and buy 5 useful players that can make Liverpool a Title challenger Team =)

    • haider ali says:

Best reply I’ve had thus far. Love your way of thinking on the players we need to buy and sell. I do feel however we need a better player in the holding role than Lucas. he’s a squad player for me.

  • juan says:

Dah! Its a shame LFC we are not going to make it in even one of the Europe competetions… its like we dont have difference with small teams.. no longer kings of europe… BR should leave

  • haider ali says:

Season’s not over yet, we might make it.
