Mark SchwarzerYou may well support a team that needs quality players, but you think they don’t have the money to acquire it. How wrong you are! Here is my starting eleven (formation of 3-5-2 because there are so many good midfielders available) that will be without a contract in the Summer and therefore will be able to leave the current Premier League club that they play for and join a new team for FREE!

Goalkeeper – Mark Schwarzer:

The Fulham goalkeeper has been playing in English football for seventeen years and is undoubtedly one of the most consistent players in the Barclay’ Premier League. Although he’s 40, Mark Schwarzer’s age looks like having no effect on his form.

The Australian shot-stopper still believes he has another few seasons left at the top playing level and his manager (Martin Jol) agrees with him and even said in an interview with The Guardian that “they (Australia) will go to the world cup and he wants to be there, he will be 42 and then will come back to us hopefully.”

A great potential signing for any team wanting consistency in between the posts.

Defender – Rio Ferdinand:

With all the controversy going on surrounding former England captain Rio Ferdinand, it’s easy to forget that at the end of this season he will be without a contract. Firstly, rejecting a call-up to the England squad and then being subject to alleged racist abuse at the England versus San Marino match, it’s fair to say that it has not been the easiest of months for the Manchester United centre-back.

His form, however, has been impeccable despite these incidents. Rio is still is one of the best defenders in English football. If Manchester United don’t require his services for one more season, then Ferdinand will be a free agent with what I’m sure will be a host of clubs desperate for his signature.

Defender – Kolo Toure:

Kolo Toure’s Manchetser City career has been blighted by the failed drugs test he took in March 2011 that got him a six month ban from football. Not too many moons a go, Toure was a member of the Arsenal squad that went a whole Premier League season without losing a game.

He later left to Manchester City for £16 milion and was soon made captain by then manager Mark Hughes. However, this position was taken away from him by current manager Roberto Mancini and his career went down from there. The brother of Yaya, Kolo still has the class to be one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs.

Defender – William Gallas:

Another defender who spent a period of time at Arsenal. William Gallas moved to Chelsea from French side Marseille in 2001 and for the last twelve years has been a rock at the heart of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham defences. Tottenham seem to think he’s past it now and are willing to let him go on a free transfer.

The man capped 84 times by France has always had bags of ability, however his temperament has always been an issue. Threatening to score deliberate own goals at Chelsea and having to be restrained from attacking sections of the Birmingham fans at Arsenal. The question is, who will be willing to take the risk by offering the 34-year-old a contract?
