Cristiano RonaldoWell, I looked at my calendar and it turns out this is an odd numbered year which means that this summer there will be no World Cup or European Championship. Fear not fellow football fans. I believe this could be one of the most interesting summers of football we have ever seen.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo

He’s the second best player in the world in my eyes. In others, he is the best, but what no one can deny is that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most talented players the world has ever seen. And when one of the most talented players the world has ever seen says he is ‘unhappy’ at his current club, alarm bells start to ring and light bulbs begin to flash.

It seems like Ronaldo may leave Real Madrid but to where? PSG could afford his wages but I think Ronaldo regards winning major trophies more important than money. The only obvious destination for Ronaldo seems Old Trafford where he would be re-united with his former team and manager. Who knows, stranger things have happened? (Source: The Sun).

2. Gareth Bale/Luis Suarez

Arguably the two best players in the Premier League this season. Yet still Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez are both playing for clubs that may not be in the Champions League next season. These are players that are too good not to be playing in the Champions League and I’m sure many teams would like to have them. In particular Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. If these two go it will be very interesting but a huge loss for English football.

3. Strikers, strikers everywhere

If Edin Dzeko leaves Manchester City and goes to Borussia Dortmund or Arsenal like everyone is expecting then that could kick off a mass of striker sales in this summers transfer window. If Dzeko was to go to Dortmund that would be as a replacement for the Polish goal-scoring machine that is Robert Lewandowski who could be what Chelsea are after.

In the Premier League it’s not just Chelsea that need a striker Manchester City also need a goalscorer especially if Dzeko leaves because that is what they have been lacking this season. In typical Manchester City style they will probably throw money at the problem, they have with £45 million rated Edison Cavani and £50 million rated Radamel Falcao at the top of their shopping list.

Neymar is a player with huge potential who should move to Europe sooner rather then later. Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are leading the chase for his signature. Arsenal could miss out on Dzeko and Liverpool could lose Luis Suarez therefore both clubs will be in need of a striker and could end up in a fight for Stefan Jovetic. Dont worry Spurs fans I haven’t forgotten you. Leandro Damaio is still your number one priority and could be added to your artillery in the summer.

4. Goalkeeping Frenzy

When Victor Valdes told Spanish media he was to leave Barcelona at the end of the season everyone was shocked. In a recent interview with football magazine 4-4-2 he said ‘I like the Premier League’ and ‘I want to try new cultures, new football’. Arsenal are after Pepe Reina which would leave Liverpool goalkeeperless and I think that Valdes would fit in perfectly with Brendan Rodgers tiki-taka style.

The big question, who will replace Valdes as Barcelona goalkeeper? The answer seems to be Manchester United’s extraordinary shot-stopper David De Gea. Asmir Begivic could go to Manchester United and Jack Butland is already at Stoke and is ready to take Begovic’s place in the team thus the goalkeeping frenzy is complete.

5. The  Managerial Merry-go Round

The special one, l’une spèciale, das spezialle or to you and me, Josè Mourinho. He is one of the best managers ever and is set to leave Madrid in the summer with England his destination.

Where in England though is anybody’s guess as his old club Chelsea who will be without a manager in the summer and Manchester City could also be without a manager by the season’s close. Manchester United will probably still have a manager by next season, but who knows, Sir Alex Ferguson could retire after United’s 20th league title, which is sure to come.

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes could very well end up at Stamford bridge if the special one does not go back to West London, because Heynckes is being turfed out of Munich with Guardiola confirmed as his successor. Jurgen Klopp is one of the best young managers in world football he is definitely good enough to replace Mourinho at Madrid.
