Why signing this French talent is a step in the right direction for Arsenal:

|

Yaya SanogoDespite Arsenal’s pressing need to sign top quality talent, you can bet that Arsene Wenger is dedicating a significant amount of time to scouring Europe for the best young talent in the game.

It’s his way and I doubt there will be any changing him. So whilst Arsenal fans will have their fingers crossed that their club has bigger fish to fry, I get the feeling that we’re going to have to put up with a lot more stories like this:

According to The Metro, Arsenal are hopeful of agreeing pre-contract terms with Yaya Sanogo, Axuerre’s talented young striker.

The 20-year-old’s current deal is set to run out at the end of the season. This has allowed Arsenal to swoop in and they’re looking to pick up the 20-year-old for a bargain price (believed to be £300,000).

It looks like it’s the right time in his career to make a move to a top club. He seems to have finally got over a big injury (a broken leg that kept him on the sidelines for the best part of a year) and has scored 7 goals in 7 appearances since his return to the side.

He’s a player who has remarkable technical ability (a quality that Arsene likes in his young players) and is always calm and controlled in front of goal. There’s a reason he’s so highly thought of throughout Europe and there’s just no telling how good he’s going to get.

He may not go straight into the Arsenal first team, but give it a year or two and he’ll be competing for a place.

Yes, I’m sure Arsenal fans would rather see their club linked with Manchester City’s Yaya Toure (fat chance) but Yaya Sanogo looks like a good signing too.

If the Gunners are to find success once more, Arsene Wenger may have to pull off once of his ‘magic signings’, in the vein of Patrick Viera, Kolo Toure, Alex Song and Robin Van Persie. Players he bought for pittance and sold for millions.

Sanogo is more than capable of evolving into one of those players and the first step is getting him on board at the Emirates.

So let’s not scoff at this potential transfer. Let’s just hope that it’s the first of many.

What’s your take? Are you excited to see Yaya Sanogo move to Arsenal this summer?
