Well it didn’t take long for Celtic manager Neil Lennon to lift his self-imposed silence on Rangers.
The day after Rangers were cleared of playing “ineligible” players in their SPL championship winning teams, Lennon has decided to give his words of wisdom once again on his favourite subject: Rangers. A team that Lord Nimmo stated did “not gain any unfair sporting advantage”.
When Lennon was asked about Rangers being vindicated by the independent tribunal led by Lord Nimmo into Rangers registering of players, the Celtic head coach stated “Maybe that’s because they got their own way”.
Yes, Rangers have got their own way. Administration, liquidation, loss of their best players and playing football in the third division – although to larger crowds than attend Celtic Park to watch Neil Lennon’s Celtic team. Not to forget the lost revenue from TV and sponsorship.
Once again we see Neil Lennon playing to the lowest denominator in the Scottish game. He is unable to accept any decision that he does not agree with, and has to go looking for conspiracy theories everywhere.
He also doesn’t care or want to talk about Rangers. Yet he can quote the exact millions and how many years Rangers used EBTs.
Neil Lennon is the most fortunate manager in Celtic’s history if not Scottish football history. He can sit back, put his feet up and relax for the next few years as he has an unchallenged run at the SPL championship and gets Champion’s League football handed to him on a plate.
Only Neil Lennon could argue that the Court of Session who overruled the illegal transfer embargo, the FTT trial that found Rangers not guilty of Tax Evasion as HMRC alleged and now Lord Nimmo’s independent tribunal clearing the club over “ineligible” players are all wrong and Rangers “Always get their own way”.
Lennon is clearly in denial and should seek medical help instead of listening to everything he hears about Rangers from Celtic’s lawyers Harper and McLeod. After all, it was Harper and McLeod who prosecuted the case on behalf of the SPL. For the SPL and Harper and McLeod, this is an epic fail.
Rangers attained a higher standard of disclosure on EBTs than Celtic when they withheld from the SFA/SPL payments to Juninho. Rangers reported every year in accounts; Celtic admitted non-disclosure.
So far, Lennon has fallen at most of the hurdles he has faced as a manager, notably to Ross County in the Scottish Cup and Rangers and Kilmarnock in the League Cup finals. He has been to Hampden five times and come off second best on five occasions. Neil Lennon should stop obsessing about Rangers and concentrate on his own legacy within the game, whatever that may be.

Rangers weren’t the only team to win the league 50 times, Linfield have one their league 51 times much the same way as old co won theirs. Founded on religiuos bigotry and intolerance (read wikipedia on Linfield Fc) these are the only two clubs in Britain to have won these badges, funny that don’t you think so?
