Could Manchester United pull off this incredible swap deal?

|

James RodriguezManchester United fans have heard a lot about James Rodriguez, Porto’s Colombian winger.

He’s a player who has begun to build himself a real reputation across Europe and has apparently drawn Sir Alex Ferguson’s interest.

Despite only being 21-years-old, he’s got a release clause of £36m, a lot of potential and clear talent. He has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo by a number of different sources and could certainly kick on and become a world-beater.

He has a long-way to go before he catches the second best player in the world, but a lot of time to improve and build upon what he’s already got. He’s a fleet-footed winger, who gallops up and down the flanks, can turn defenders inside out and provides real danger in and around the penalty area.

His key assets are his dribbling ability, pace, control and shooting ability. Last season he scored 14 goals in 38 games. This season he has 8 in 21 games. These are fine returns for a winger, especially one who is just 21-years-old.

It’s not hard to see why pundits are frothing at the mouth in admiration. Equally, it’s easy to see why Manchester United may be interested in acquiring his signature.

According to the Daily Mail, United are keen to make a deal happen and are willing to swap some of their stars in return for Rodriguez.

Nani and Anderson joined United at the same time from two Portuguese clubs. And now they may well be on their way back to the Prima Superliga and James Rodriguez could be heading back in the opposite direction.

This, for me, would be some extremely smart transfer dealing on the part of Sir Alex Ferguson. Anderson, despite the occassional moment, has never really settle at Old Trafford. Sir Alex has persevered for long enough – it’s time for the Brazilian to move on.

Nani, on the other hand, appears to be in limbo. With a murky contract situation and his first team status in question, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was pushed out this summer.

So swapping these two players for a player who could have a massive impact for Manchester United would be a stroke of genius. It’s like trading in two video game discs for a brand new one, that has been better reviewed. Why wouldn’t you?

What’s your take? Would you trade Nani and Anderson for James Rodriguez?

Yea…. why not.. If they could pull it off, great. I’m sure both sides would be better off in the end. But would Nani take a pay cut?

  • chris berry says:

Heres the flaw. Nani wants 130k a week hes reportedly getting 90k at the moment. Yet in Portugal professional footballers earn 130k per month tops. That some pay drop for a player who thinks hes in his prime and should be earning more. Bottom line its never going to happen.

And chuck in fabio and bebe as a couple of sweeteners, those two as extras will save united one pound fifty on the wages bill every week.
