Loic RemyThe International break must surely have given Arsenal fans, along with he club’s top brass, a chance to reflect.

They’ll have looked back on a season that started with endless promise, but is already all but over. The fight for fourth aside, Arsenal have nothing left to play for this season.

For a club that has grown accustomed to success since Arsene Wenger took over, it’s not quite good enough.

So what’s the next step? Most fans will tell you that the answer lies in redressing the balance when the transfer window re-opens.

This may well be true, but it’s important to be specific: only through making smart signings, can Arsenal re-establish themselves in the Premier League and throughout Europe.

So whilst Arsenal are being linked to all and sundry, there should be no snap judgements. Each move need to be deliberated over and over, until it’s clear that Arsenal can’t live without the new player.

This brings me to a rather bizarre rumour cooked up by the Daily Star. They claim that Arsenal are monitoring QPR’s situation carefully and are ready to pounce for both Christopher Samba and Loic Remy should Harry Redknapp’s side fail to stay up this season.

With the Rs facing relegation and Harry unlikely to pull a Houdini trick this time, Samba and Remy will likely move elsewhere. Samba picks up £100k-a-week, whilst Remy is on £75k-a-week. It’s all too much for a Championship side to bare. But should Arsenal be making a move for players of this ilk? Can’t the Gunners do better?

Yes, both players had good reputations before they joined QPR, but they’ve both played a part in their new club’s failings this season. Whilst Remy’s goal-scoring form hasn’t been bad, his injury problems should not go unnoticed. Arsenal need somebody they can rely on up front, not somebody who will only turn up every other week.

Then there’s Chris Samba, whose price-tag has over-inflated to incredible proportions over the last couple of seasons. Yes, he’s stocky, physical and up for a battle, but is he really any better than either Thomas Vermaelen or Laurent Koscielny? I’m not so sure.

It’s my feeling that Arsenal can do better in both cases. When you’ve had a bad season, you just shouldn’t turn to a relegated club (presuming QPR don’t avoid the drop) to provide a fix. I can only hope that Arsene Wenger looks elsewhere.

What’s your take? Are Chris Samba and Loic Remy good enough for Arsenal, or am I being a big old snob?

Samba is to slow and is not that good at all. Remmy to many injuries and not good enough for our club go get jovetic and hummels and Williams
