Do these Arsenal transfer targets show a club getting serious?

|

Mario GotzeOne of the biggest complaints that has been leveled at Arsene Wenger over the last two-three years, is that he doesn’t take the transfer window seriously.

For the last five-or-six years, Arsenal have spent every summer in desperate need of some major recruits. Unfortunately, the previously adept Wenger seems to have lost his natural transfer nous. There’s nothing like being in desperate need of a striker and pulling Marouane Chamakh out of the French League.

His attitude was particularly prevalent during this year’s January transfer window. Despite being in desperate need of new recruits all over the pitch, Arsene only brought in a left-back and that was only because his current one is injured.

That’s what seems to happen nowadays. Arsenal chase the likes of David Villa, and end up with nobody. The natural consequence of this, is that they’ll end up without trophies as looks like being the case once more this season.

I’m sure most fans are now looking forward to next summer, hoping that the normally frugal Wenger starts to get serious in the transfer market.

There are some reasons to be optimistic. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are chasing three players and they’re all big names, who would significantly improve the Gunners. The players in question are Borussia Dortmund’s German wunderkind, Mario Gotze, Fiorentina’s tricky forward, Stevan Jovetic and Liverpool stopper Pepe Reina.

It comes to something, when Reina is the least impressive name on your list of transfer targets. The Spanish keeper has bags of experience and would certainly keep Wojciech Szczesny on his toes.

But Gotze and Jovetic are the two key additions here. They’re both naturally gifted players in the vein of Arsenal stars of the past. I’m sure fans are sick of seeing the likes of Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey ambling around the pitch, giving the ball away. This pair would be the perfect tonic.

Gotze is one of the best young players of his generation. If Arsenal buy him now, they would effectively tie him down for what could be his best years. Stevan Jovetic, on the other hand, has the potential to be Arsenal’s very own Luis Suarez – a secondary striker who’s good enough to unlock tight defenses and chip in with goals.

So, yes, things look bad for Arsenal at the moment, but the summer could provide a chance for the club to get its act together.

What’s your take, would these three talents put Arsenal back on the map?

I had to comment on such stupid words !!
Giroud is immense in the Air the ability to makes 14 Assists and 14 goals is remarkable for a players first season in the Premiership. Its not France its the premiership the hardest league in the World where many great players fall… So would you tell Chelski to get rid of a player that cost them an absolute fortune because he cant score for 49 games but gives something different to the team with assists and making space for others. No you wouldnt and as for saying his is useless lets look at Van when he first came here Giroud is doing much much better then Van did when he came… fact!! he is even doing better than Henry the Great Man Took Seven Games to score when he first came. Back Giroud has eclipsed both… Fact He is on target to be one of the best ever at Arsenal !! and he can only get better. I call him Smudger because he reminds me so much of the Great Alan Smith of Yesterday .. and what your going to tell me Smudger wasnt up there with some of the best i suppose !!
But Ramsey you might have a point yet i thinkyour being very harsh on Ramsey he has played nearly every position in the midfield week in week out in not been able to settle to one position !! I personally would play from the start as i think he starts better than as a sub.. He has played well in the Holding mid position this season every time asked and i think this is his best position in front of the back four going acorss the line infront of course moping up and spraying the ball around… but it takes time to settle in that position at least a run of three games but he doesnt even get a run of two games.. so i think you being very harsh on a player that has had such an awful injury and has taken abit of time to adapt since.. before his injury he was immense and he will be again every smashed your leg like that ??? No probably not even got wet during a game.. some players never come back just look a Gazza and his was self inflicted by trying to break someone legs but he broke his own knee !! just lay off what you know nothing about !! 2 points behind chelski one behind the spubs !! and you are one of the ones that said 7th or 8th !! joker

Aim fed up with daily promises from The Arsenal Management about buying players in summer- listen to Arsenal fans, they have answers for the downfall of the club than Mr. Wenger as an individual. The club is bigger than all of us.
